topping up years after 2016

Options
Hi
i have just checked my national insurance record and i am missing 2 years 2021-2022  and  2022-2023.it is  obvious that topping up would be beneficial but i am not sure when the optimum time would be to do this.
will the price of the top up go up the nearer i get to 2027 or should i top up now.

The cost will go up, but there may be no need to pay if you might pay some NI before you reach your state retirement age (I assume you will reach your state retirement age in 2027 as this is the only other date you mention). Are you like to do any paid work or be self-employed between now and 2027?

Also, what is your state pension forecast? Are you sure you can increase your state pension at all?
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

Years increase in price to the current year price 2 years after the end of the year and each year following but the 2021-22 increase was paused and will not increase until April 2025. It will then increase, along with 2022-23, from £800.80 (£824.20 for 22-23) to £907.40 + Sep CPI so likely around £930.
