Banks/Building Societies NOT reporting to HMRC by the end of June
Neither me
or my wife had received a P800 for the last FY. I phoned
HMRC yesterday to ask them if they were sending out the forms because last year
we’d received them in October and I knew full well that we’d owe them money and
I’d rather pay them the money than have my occupational pensions reduced each
month. Last…

Fixed rate bonds newbie question
Hi, am I able to have more than one fixed rate bond? Reason for asking is I have around £120k to invest but notice the total amount I can invest into a bond is £85k. So could I use my remaining £35k on another fixed rate bond? Or is the total maxed out at £85k per person period?

Investing savings for elderly relative in care home
My dad (93) recently moved into a care home and we have just
sold his house. The care home fees are mostly met through his inflation-linked
pensions and attendance allowance but there is a £8k a year shortfall which the
c£240k proceeds from the house will make up. I have PoA and manage his money for him (he has mental…

What to do with 150K?
What/where would the best place be to put 150k? Currently have investments with St James place but at a very hefty 5% which is £7500 to give them more money doesn't particularly appeal to me. Ideally I would just like to deposit the money and watch it grow (hopefully) really dont have the time or knowledge to be playing…

MSE News: Premium Bond prizes worth £92 million still waiting to be claimed
Nearly 2.5 million Premium Bond prizes worth a combined £92 million remain unclaimed, according to the latest figures. Most bondholders now get prizes paid automatically, though this may not be the case if you have older bonds. Plus, prizes paid by cheque may be unclaimed if you haven't kept your address up to date or…

H2B and LISA and inheritance
My son has a H2B ISA but has now inherited a share in a property. This is only worth a small amount, less than the level where the SDLT surcharge becomes active on buying his first home. Is there a similar de minimis level for the ISA or is it simply you own another property so no bonus ?

Junior SIPP selection
I am considering opening a Junior SIPP with Fidelity for my children. This is a long term investment for them and I want to keep it simple. I was thinking of something like the Fidelity Index World Fund Accumulation. Would it be unwise to invest in a single fund or would it be better to balance it out with something else…

Regular Saver confirmation of payee scheme
I am aware that any payment I make or standing order I set up must follow the new guidance or else get rejected. However, what do I do for existing standing orders that have been running for months? The majority will have the bank/b soc as the payee name and not my name. Do I need to alter all my existing standing orders…

How safe is safe (ISA & SIPP)
Ok. Another naive query coming y'alls way. I saw some news about Yotta "bank" (not a bank), which (in layman's summary) is/was a fintech 'go between' offering depositors a sweepstake. They would 'guarantee' depositors money was FDIC insured by 3 times the usual amount by supposedly putting client's money with 3 different…

Wealthify refusing cashback
Hello all, I signed up specifically query this. I learned of Wealthify from a weekly MSE email in January 2023 which set out the £50 cash back offer. I signed up to take advantage of this. I had never heard of Wealthify and would not have signed up were it not for this offer, so am sure I followed the relevant MSE link. My…

Ready to start investing
I’ve been learning a little about S&S as I want to shift some cash savings as the savings rates fall. Is now a potentially bad time start ? Are things going a bit flat globally and could begin to dip ? what would you do if looking to shift around 150 K from ISA and non-ISA cash to ISA and non ISA S&S drip feed monthly or…

Fixed Rate Interest
Morning all, This is my first post on here so please bear with me. Question about (variable) notice accounts.
Hi. I just have a quick question regarding notice accounts. I was (before seeing that their rate drops to 4.7% tomorrow at least) in the 95 day notice account by Recognise bank at 4.95% AER But I am just wondering that if they change their interest rate whilst you have an open account and money invested does one still have…
