what does it fall under.......
I have a trading 212 Invest account and I have some GBP in it earning interest. If I exchange to another currency and earn interest on that, is that then classed as cash earning interest or does it remain a asset as I bought it with GBP and when I convert it back does it get treated as a "profit" rather than interest ? I…

Where to put large some of money for maximum short-term return
Hello, just sold my house and now have £130,000 in the bank. Potentially it’s going to stay in savings for 1-4 months until the next house buy goes through. Where am I best holding this cash for maximum return that also means I can easily get it out again ready for my next house sale? My husband and I do have premium bonds…

Best Low-Maintenance Strategy for £28,000 Savings?
Hi everyone, A parent of mine recently passed away, and I’ve inherited £28,000 in savings. I’ve never had substantial money before, so I want to take a low-risk, low-maintenance approach while keeping some funds accessible. After researching online and reading posts on this forum, I’ve put together the following plan. I’d…

Shawbrook bank login through b2clogin.com ??
Has anyone else noticed that when you login to Shawbrook bank you get transferred to the domain b2clogin.com? I haven't been able to find out much about this company but seems very bad practice to route traffic through a different domain. If you saw this on your phone you'd just label it as a phishing scam and ignore.

Trade121 messing about with my address
Was at end of ISA transfer, about to sign, then saw they'd used an incomplete and nonsensically incorrect address, i.e. one whole line missing, after ignoring my original input. Queried the omission, but they then asked when my address became incorrect and if I'd send copy bank statement to verify. Odd, as they weren't…

Managing down tax on savings interest
Hi all, Hoping you can help. I received a payrise in August, taking my gross pay to £43, 824. I have money in savings, which probably means I've earned about £1200 in interest, although a couple of months ago I realised I would be hit by having gone into the higher rate tax band, meaning I'm hit by the lower allowance for…

Reviewing Investment Platforms
Hi All, I have £20k invested in Vanguard with the following fund, I'm happy with how it's been performing with a return of 63%. My investment is within an ISA wrapper and I contribute £200 per month to the pot. My question is, with the rate hikes is this the best place to maximise my returns? LifeStrategy® 100% Equity Fund…

Making Quicker Decisions
Hi everyone, I find that i am very slow at making decisions, in terms of managing my money. I found various stocks in 2024 i wanted to invest in after doing some research. I feel i am needing confirmation from others that a stock or investment would be good, rather than making decisions myself. If i had the courage to…

Requesting non redacted bank statements?
Hi. Is this a usual (and maybe recent) practice? I have tried to open couple of online 'bank' fixed rate saver accounts (specifically Raisin UK and VidaSavings) recently and both of them are now requesting that I upload non redacted bank statements to 'prove I own the account' and for 'proof of address' This has never…

Housing Market
Hi everyone, Persimmon stock (LON: PSN), the British housebuilding company, with the current market focus being in the UK on cutting interest rates. NS&I website login problems with telephone code
Anyone else had this problem? Entering an on-screen six digit code via telephone is the second part of the two-factor authentication process to log into NS&I accounts. It's the part that usually goes wrong and prevents me from logging in. This issue has plagued me for months and has never worked consistently. There's no…

The £3000 annual gift limit
My mum wants to gift both of my kids £5000 now, instead of leaving this to them in her will. She keeps getting stuck on the £3000 annual tax-free limit, as everything she reads states this limit for gifts. She probably won't live another 7 years as she is now in her mid nineties. Her total estate is probably worth around…

All the House I can afford?
What would you do? Later this year I will be moving to a different area with the family. At first I had noticed that with a mortgage of say 150k we can afford very sizeable houses. This would leave us with around 3k to spare monthly after bills to invest. However, should we go for a modest 4 bed but still nice enough, we…
