I have an Oyster Card. I don't live in London and haven't used it for 4 years. There is over £10 on the card. I don't plan to go to London. I was hoping to obtain a refund. Megatrain and EMR
Does anyone know if East Midlands has stopped offering Megatrain deals? Searching Chesterfield to St Pancras now suggests a bus from either Sheffield or Mansfield. It's a shame if they have, as it was a good way to make longer train rides more affordable, at times of the day when the train's are fairly empty.

Delay Repay
New licence conditions were issued by ORR which took effect rom 01/04/2022. These required Train operating companies to publish data about these payments every three months and feature it prominently alongside existing Delay Repay stuff on their websites. As of today Cross Country haven't done it and GWR has just put up…

On line train booking - recommendations?
Sorry to be a less inexperienced rail user. Planning to travel within the UK a fair bit for hiking and bike packing. Next trip involves travel which is over 3 months away so the tickets are not yet out. (Perhaps even industrial action may have ended by then). However, testing with some earlier dates using various sites…

Has anyone had an experience getting a refund due to the railway strikes?
Hey! So I'll start off saying I'm so unlucky when it comes to train journeys it seems! Not relating to my issue but my last train journey to the airport was was July 27th 2022 and 2 days prior we had severe heat weather warning and all trains cancelled. Unfortunately taxi's were all booked up and I had to settle for £150…

Avanti Advance tickets
Hi everyone, It's another Avanti one! Just looking for some advice really because I'm sure I can't be the only person in this position. For work, I travel into London from Macclesfield once a week, every Tues. I pay for this travel personally - I suppose I think of it as my tax for a Southern salary, although that salary…

Train ticket question
If I book a ticket to travel from A to C and then discover that the train stops at B which happens to be more convenient than getting on at A, is that allowed? I've tried looking online but can't find a definitive answer

Train strike refund - two train companies
I'm hoping someone can help as I have a train strike refund query. Over Christmas we had return Advanced train tickets booked from York to London on LNER and then from London to Southampton to visit family. Booked separately through the individual train company websites. Due to expected disruption due to the train strikes…

Penalty Fares
New regulations come into force on 23 January 2023-- but I have seen no advance publicity at stations or on websites. We need a single user friendly document to cover everything in one place, so that forgetful pensioners like me, know what to do when they are confronted with a PF. I think it is time for a new MSE review of…

Strike/Cancellation Rights: 2x Single vs 1x Return
Hi, I want to book train tickets for a trip to London in March and book in advanced while the prices are reasonable. LNER are only offering Advanced Singles for outwards and returns. If there is a train strike on one of the days then I wont travel at all. As I'm being sold 2 singles I'm worried that I wont be eligible for…

I’m really annoyed with Trainline’s attitude on this one, can anyone help please? 9/12/22 my return journey was severely disrupted by a connecting train being cancelled, I got an email to this effect a couple of hours before travelling. There seemed to be a way round it leaving gig 70 mins early (not good) but in the…

How to change default payment card for Oyster card
OH's Oyster card wouldn't work this morning so I've been tasked with working out why. Turns out it was trying to debit to a card that is no longer active. I've gone in and sorted out the issue and paid for a chunk of credit, but it gave the message at the end of the transaction that future transactions will be debited to…

Hi guys, Had a mix up with flight arrival times back to the UK and looks like I cannot get a train back from the airport as I arrive late on Sunday evening on Feb 5th. The tickets I booked are for 7pm, and there's no trains available after I arrive back in the country. I tried to get a refund as now I have to drive to the…

London Zone Boundary rail fares--how to buy
Depending on tickets you may already have, for some rail trips into/out of London the lowest cost option is to buy a "boundary" fare aka an extension fare. (prompted by a discussion in the forums in the excellent oysterfares.com website, formerly known as oyster-rail.org.uk) A Boundary fare is where you buy a ticket that…
