Cats keep coming in my garden
I am at wit's end. Several years ago my dog (40kg GSD x Rottie) got one and badly hurt it. Thankfully it was saved. Today, a really fat one jumped down off the fence right in front of my dog, and was then too fat to get away despite my dog now being 10 years old with bad hips! I've spent the last hour canvassing the…

Dog eating grass in the mornings
My 10 month old border collie has suddenly started eating grass on his first walk of the day, he has not done it before and doesn't eat any the rest of the day. I know that it is normal for a dog to eat grass when they have an upset tum but there has been no indication of anything wrong in that area. Could he be missing…

Baby pigeon stuck on window ledge
Just came home to find a baby pigeon on the outside upstairs window ledge. It obviously can not fly and it's Mum is hovering around on the roof. Best way to reunite? If I open the window it will knock it off and fall from a height. If I manage to get it down. What to do with it? Won't a cat just kill it? Any opinions Thanks

Petporte cat flap & extension lead
I had a petporte cat flap fitted & when I no longer needed it I chopped the cable off (to make it neater) thinking I wouldn't use it again. Now I'd like to use it again & I assumed I'd have to get a new one, until I saw this…

New kitten :)
Sooo after years of keeping rats, I've got a kitten (I found out I wasn't as allergic to cats as I thought I was!) Oscar is 10 weeks old and absolutely gorgeous - a fluffy ginger boy. He's an indoor cat and I'm out at work during the day but home virtually all weekend. Any tips/hints/recommendations would be welcome on…

Introducing another cat??
Our rescue has been with us 7 months now and is about 10 months old. He's a very independent cat, certainly not a lap cat. He will sit on the sofa behind my head and sleep on the bed, that's as close as he get, oh unless he's sat on my book staring at me when I'm trying to read :D He has a cat flap now and loves the…

James Wellbeloved Alternative
After some advice with regards to a cheaper alternative to 'James Wellbeloved' dog food. Currently have 3 poodles, of which 2 have a lot of allergies, currently feeding all 3 dogs on 'James Wellbeloved' Lamb & Rice pouches. This is becoming rather expensive, nearly 6 pouches a day. Is there something else on the market…

Snooze button on my alarm clock...
I needn't have bought a daylight alarm clock after all; one of our cats has taken on the role of waker-up-in-chief. It's all good and well but he doesn't appear to have a snooze button. So 5.45am is OK during the week but it's a bit much at the weekends. We (meaning OH) don't allow them in the bedroom but he'll sit outside…

Help solving litter-tray related issue!
Hi all, One of our cats has started an unfortunate habit. After going in the litter tray, he often seems to wipe his bum (sorry!) outside it, on the floor. Sometimes leaving a smear, sometimes leaving something bigger :o Has anyone else had this problem? We thought if we could buy some sort of suitable covering to put down…

Raw Diet for Dogs

Clingy cats and new baby
Hello. We have two beautiful 8 year old cats, Gabriel and Edward. We've had them since kittens. They are predominantly indoor cats (we moved to a flat shortly after adopting them. Their first house with garden wasn't until about 3 years ago and even then only 1 had any real interest in going outside - and only for an hour…

Human food for dog
I guess I'm talking about scraps and leftovers. My friend told me that dogs should never get human food. Is this true? And am I damage my 10 year old dog? She gets leftovers as well, why not? Better than them going in the bin. I know she shouldn't have chocolate and my Mum said she shouldn't have bread as they cause fits…

Why does my dog only like to chew wires?
Hello everyone, I'm looking for any help I can get on how to stop my puppy chewing wires. I know they normally chew everything in sight anyway, but he seems to enjoy chewing wires especially. I always make sure an effort to remove any from reach, but if I take him to a friends house its the first thing he goes for. My…

Dry eye
My ancient (well, 14+ is ancient for a cavalier) passed his MOT, today. He has a slight heart murmur, which he's had for many years and causes no problems, weak muscles in his back legs, a touch of dementia and one dry eye, but the vet says he seems quite content. He also mentioned that treating dry eye isn't expensive,…
