Doggy slippers?

A friend is suggesting coming to visit for an extended stay - and wants to bring her dog. It's a nice dog, no problem there, but I have (expensive) engineered wood floors and I'm worried that his claws will scratch. Is there such a thing as doggy slippers that he can wear inside to protect the floor? Or am I just being a control freak?

there are dog booties but they would have grips on them so would probably also do damage. Without grips the dog could slip and do himself an injury. I think you are going to have to accept that there will be damage to your floor if you let him stay.

As long as his nails are not overgrown I can't see how the nails will scratch your flooring. Generally if a dog makes a clip clip noise when walking the nails are too long. As long as you don't encourage running around and rough play on the flooring it should be fine.

Dog socks are a thing! You're definitely going to need non-slip socks though so that the dog can't get hurt. Something like this would probably work: https://www.petconnection.ie/product/trixie-non-slip-dog-socks-grey-2pcs

The problem that you'll have is if the dog doesn't like wearing the socks, he'll be able to get them off. But I'd say if you do want the dog to wear something to protect the floor, this would be the best bet. Or possibly invest in rugs?!
