Why is tinned cat food disappearing from shops?
Hello - my first post! All the cats l have had have been happy with tinned food, plus the dried variety for variation and snacks. Currently we have three cats, happy, healthy and energetic (when they're awake) which of course means a fair weekly expense. I have always bought brands such as Whiskas and Kitekat, and…

Chickens! How Big a Coop?
So I'm in a position to buy some chickens. I've been looking at this coop: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141975960306 They do a 4 nest version (£200) and a 6 nest version (£240). I haven't got money to waste as I'm looking at spending a good bit of money on a shed, but I don't know what size I should go for. I'm thinking the…

UV lights to detect urine?
I am at my wit's end... can you help? I watched a Youtube video showing a guy finding cat urine using a UV light. So I purchased one to find any rogue urine spots in my house (one of my cats suffers from stress related cystitis & so once or twice a year she sometimes 'spots' in places other than her tray). The UV light…

Dog flatulance
Sorry for the topic but I cannot stand much more of it. My foster dog is currently in 20mg of omeprazole with another 5 days to run. I suspect this is the cause. Has anyone else has a dog on this medication who has had this problem? Any solutions?? The smell is beyond offensive! Any advice appreciated.

Help teach rescue dog about play and treats
Any advice more than welcome. Just over a week ago, my daughter and I adopted a dog from RSPCA who had been previously locked in a pigeon shed for 3 months whilst her owner was in hospital. Following his death, his wife took the dog to RSPCA, saying she knew nothing about the dog and didn't want it. As it turns out, the…

Insurance Query
We've recently adopted a new dog from a rescue and he has a funny looking small lump on the inside of his ear - a bit like a cyst maybe? He had his boosters last week and the vet seemed fairly interested in it. We've not yet setup insurance and weren't 100% sure we would as he's a bit older (9yrs) and we expected premiums…

Dog Sitting
Afternoon, Just looking for opinions/experiences with regards to dog sitting. My Dad lost his elderly dog last year and he's been debating getting another for a while. He's retired and quite active and always had dogs. He has a holiday home in Spain and would take his dog with him but as we all know dogs are very tying and…

Pet insurance annual increases, where is best?
We've had our annual renewal quotes in for our 2 moggies, who have been insured through Argos (platinum/lifetime) since we got them in 2010. I'm considering changing insurance for one cat as she only has one pre-existing condition which is easy and cheap to treat. I'm less concerned with the monthly premium than the…

Pet Plan Experiences?
This is more of a rant I guess. Unfortunately my 1 year old cat was run over last Friday - she suffered facial injuries and a broken leg. She is covered by Pet Plan lifetime plan... but... I only took out the policy the Monday before the accident(!) There is a 14 day exclusion for illness and pre-existing conditions. I…

Cats keep coming in my garden
I am at wit's end. Several years ago my dog (40kg GSD x Rottie) got one and badly hurt it. Thankfully it was saved. Today, a really fat one jumped down off the fence right in front of my dog, and was then too fat to get away despite my dog now being 10 years old with bad hips! I've spent the last hour canvassing the…

Dog eating grass in the mornings
My 10 month old border collie has suddenly started eating grass on his first walk of the day, he has not done it before and doesn't eat any the rest of the day. I know that it is normal for a dog to eat grass when they have an upset tum but there has been no indication of anything wrong in that area. Could he be missing…

Baby pigeon stuck on window ledge
Just came home to find a baby pigeon on the outside upstairs window ledge. It obviously can not fly and it's Mum is hovering around on the roof. Best way to reunite? If I open the window it will knock it off and fall from a height. If I manage to get it down. What to do with it? Won't a cat just kill it? Any opinions Thanks

Petporte cat flap & extension lead
I had a petporte cat flap fitted & when I no longer needed it I chopped the cable off (to make it neater) thinking I wouldn't use it again. Now I'd like to use it again & I assumed I'd have to get a new one, until I saw this…

New kitten :)
Sooo after years of keeping rats, I've got a kitten (I found out I wasn't as allergic to cats as I thought I was!) Oscar is 10 weeks old and absolutely gorgeous - a fluffy ginger boy. He's an indoor cat and I'm out at work during the day but home virtually all weekend. Any tips/hints/recommendations would be welcome on…

Introducing another cat??
Our rescue has been with us 7 months now and is about 10 months old. He's a very independent cat, certainly not a lap cat. He will sit on the sofa behind my head and sleep on the bed, that's as close as he get, oh unless he's sat on my book staring at me when I'm trying to read :D He has a cat flap now and loves the…

James Wellbeloved Alternative
After some advice with regards to a cheaper alternative to 'James Wellbeloved' dog food. Currently have 3 poodles, of which 2 have a lot of allergies, currently feeding all 3 dogs on 'James Wellbeloved' Lamb & Rice pouches. This is becoming rather expensive, nearly 6 pouches a day. Is there something else on the market…
