Unsecured Loans for the Retired
I'm a retired lady of 69 and looking for a unsecured (fixed rate preferably) loan. Will I face any problems because of my age? Can anyone advise me any financial organisation who offer these kind of loans or is it realitively easy to get a loan in spite of my age.

Memory? What memory was that then?
I'm not even 60 yet and my memory seems shot to bits. I started a new job not long ago and have made so many mistakes - even when the boss tells me what he wants doing with something, and I make notes which at the time I think is enough to trigger off a reminder of what to do, I still get it wrong. I'm going to have to…

NHS health care depends on where you live
We lived in wales for 35 years and dh had a problem that required a consultation, not life threatening but certainly hindering day to day living for an otherwise fit and active 60 year old. He then also had an injury and tore something in his knee so that was more of a handicap together with pain. That happened in january…

Feeling low...
Hi, I was wondering if there is life after 50? Reason I ask is because even though I have worked from the age of 14 seem to struggle. I rent privately as a previous relationship broke down and well needed somewhere to live. Have tried to get social housing but I am not urgent so drop down the list. Recent years health…

Who regulates executors?
Before my Dad was even in the ground my relatives were pestering me to renounce the bank as joint executors. I bitterly regret their pressure at a vulnerable time. They went through his flat the same day he passed away. I was not allowed a key to the flat, have not seen any documentation on his estate. I was the sole…

bus passes at 60?
I was 60 recently and know and understand that due to the changes in pension age I won't be eligible to receive my state pension and my bus pass until 6th September. I have been told (at my local town hall) that my bus pass application will not be processed until 6th September which will mean that I won't get it until a…

I wonder if anyone could point me in the right direction here. My parents are elderly - my dad is 82, fit enough but obviously getting on a bit. My mum is 80, has Alcziemer's but was physically ok until she fell and broke her hip a few weeks ago. She is now in a rehab unit, for another 5 weeks, and as they live in a 4…

Writing a letter from beyond the grave
Another question about death – I thought I’d separate it from the other as its not really about money saving… I want to leave a bundle of info and instructions about bank accounts etc, (with a copy of my will) to simplify things if I die, and it seems wrong to do this without also leaving a personal letter expressing my…

Panorama - Will Writers
Just a quick note to alert you that Panorama tonight at 8.30pm is on will writers. Called "Wills - The Final Rip Off?" I doubt it will bring up anything that folks on here don't know already, but it might be interesting to watch. There was an item on Breakfast this morning about it, and they tried to interview 2 blokes who…

Please Stop Using Bus Passes - Transport Secretary
The Transport Secretary, Mr Philip Hammond, is appealing to better-off bus pass holders to leave them at home and pay the fare instead as this will help the country. I note that a recent audit of my local Councillors' expense claims revealed that a significant proportion of reclaimed taxi trips had been made at weekends.…

savings on Water Rates
We just received our Water bill this week and for a change actually read the accompanying notes regarding how bills are calculated. Whilst it wouldnt be of great benefit to ourselves there may be ways you can reduuce your bill, apart from using less water, if you are in receipt of various benefits. The savings aren't…
