UK holiday insurance

I have posted this on another board but I reckon you good folks may be able to help.
My annual free travel insurance from my bank will run out in a few months when I am 65.
I have booked a coach trip for next spring ( after it expires) with friends but without DH. The coach company requires you to be insured. Their insurance costs £15 and IMHO for a 4 night/5 day break in the UK this is expensive. I can get a single trip 45 day European insurance for that money.
I'm not even sure what I am insuring against!
I am covered for cancellation on my present annual policy, until it expires, though if I cancel because DH falls ill, a pre-existing medical condition won't be covered.
Medical expenses will be free in UK.
My luggage is unlikely to be lost on a one-coach trip virtually door-to-door.
The only thing I can think of is if I fell ill and had to stay behind at the resort and get myself home later.
Or if I died, my body would need to be got back.
When DH and I go away independently we are not covered for those eventualities, so if they happened we would cope.
I guess I am going to have to bite the bullet and get annual insurance, which will work out cheaper in the event that I do more trips. As I have no pre-existing medical conditions ( does a bit of arthritis in the knees - no medication or treatment - count? it would not be too dear.
Any thoughts? Have I missed something?

Won't you be getting the annual free insurance from the bank again next year? surely it covers ANY 'travel', whether that's within the UK or further afield? I'm sure I've seen a European policy which specifically includes travel within the UK, as long as you're staying away from home for at least one night?Signature removed for peace of mind0

No, unfortunately it expires in Feb after I am 65.0

HSBC say they have a 'sister' firm which gives competitive quotes when you're past the age for included insurance. Might be worth asking your bank.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.

We had to give up overseas holidays when my OH's medical conditions became too expensive to insure. We are only doing UK holidays now and have taken out annual UK travel insurance (mainly to cover cost of cancellation - would have been £1000 if we'd had to cancel one holiday this year).
Premiums should be very reasonable if you're healthy. Even with covering OH's pre-existing medical conditions and his age 80, our policy only costs £80 a year.0
