Giving something back

Options
I must have saved a fortune with MSE, and other internet money saving tricks. It's always made me a feel a bit guilty for all the people who don't have the technology or the patience, and therefore end up paying more than me for the same services.

In particular, I've been thinking that the elderly could benefit greatly from some help to switch energy supplier, get cashback, buy things online without getting ripped off. I'm just not sure how to go about doing it... Any suggestions?

Most local authorities run evening classes/extra mural classes/leisure classes etc. Many day centres for retired people are looking for speakers and/or tutors. Why not make the necessary enquiries and run a course.

I am forever doing things on-line for my elderly neighbour and I print out poems for two pensioner members of U3A who don't have computers. They'd have to pay 15p a sheet in the library.

It's no big deal though - it's what friends do, eh?

I help out at my local Age Concern, it involves IT related items, we are forever just simply guiding folk through what most here would assume is "obvious", such as using Google, filing images so you can find them again, how to start a new paragraph in Word

See if your local one has an IT related sort of group and go from there

    Hi

Think about volunteering for one of your local charities. They need people with all sorts of experience for a variety of roles

For a while, for a couple of hours a week, I was a volunteer providing assistance to the public making use of the public access computers in my local library. It may be worth asking your local library if it runs such a scheme and if it has enough clients who might benefit from such assistance.
