My wife was born in 1958 (shhh don't tell anybody) she has 27 years paid up N.I cons, including those added for raising our child. How many years do you now need for a full pension, is it 35? Don't say ring the Future Pension Centre as I just hung on the phone forever. Also she currently can buy/ makeup 4 missing years, do…

Hi everyone, I've put this question here to get a range of suggestions/comments from people who've maybe been there, done that perhaps. I own property outright and have cash in the bank (am late fifties). I've been divorced for years so it belongs to me only. I have 2 adult children, both now married. 1 set are very good…

Is there a dedicated thread for wills?
Making baby steps with it this afternoon. My affairs are reasonably simple but I'd like to see how others have managed any complications - such as having inheritance swiped by rogue elements. Please point me in the right direction. TIA

Advice please
My husband and I have a buy to let property which is just coming to end of mortgage term. We are both 60 and I want to sell but not sure what to do with the profit. We can pay off mortgage on our home but would still have about £60k left. Hubby wants to buy property again but I do not. Is premium bonds a viable option??

Marriage Allowance
We learned from Martin Lewis recently that you can claim Marriage Allowance so today we rang the helpline and it seems we have qualified for this. The gentleman who dealt with our claim asked about our income for the years 2015 and 2016 and said that we will notice a difference on my husbands pension payments in January…

Another power of attorney question
Relative has just moved permanently to a care home. Their place is funded by 117 aftercare due to having being sectioned prior to the move so their house does not need to be sold to pay for care. Children (in thirties, one with MH problems) have been allowed to live rent free at home all their adult lives. Now that power…

When a friends parent dies...
Even at my age (ie early 60s) I've never had a remotely "close" death. I know that's most unusual by my age. Both my parents are still alive (though I am wondering currently whether I've just been given a "sign" that people who have "gone before" are now appearing waiting to "greet" one of my parents). Anyway - friend…

Putting a restriction on your property?
Heard an awful story on Radio 4 today about thieves (sometimes successfully) selling off property they don't actually own (by forging documents and then persuading the land registry to change ownership!) The advice was that, if you own any property without a mortgage, put a Restriction on that property so that it cannot be…

Is this a scam?
I recently received a letter from City Financial Investment Company Ltd saying they need to confirm my tax status. They then go on to say that new regulations require a fund(not named) in which I invest to establish whether I am a reportable person for the purposes of the regulations. Given that any income I have from any…
