Hoe do I make a fabric refresher?
Bit of back story: We've been given a new (to us, seond hand in reality) settee and chairs by my in laws, and as lovely as they are they smell a bit musty! I've sprayed Febreze on them and it's helping but I think I'll need a number of application before it smells like our house. The problem is Febreze is expensive and…

can you cook chicken with freezer burn?
Hi, I've just taken some chicken breasts out of the freezer. However there seems to be substantial freezer burn on 1 of them. The chicken has turned white (is that freezer burn??). I want to cut these up thinly and put them into a curry for supper. Do you think they will be ok to eat? Thanks in advance Julie

Slow cookers
Any ideas of where I can buy a small slow cooker that will not cost the earth? I have been checking the net but some good ones are about £30.00. The cheap one do not seem to have good reviews on Amazon. Any ideas will be useful as I do not have much time to cook and it would be nice to get things prepared first thing in…

Feeling ever so proud as I did my online shop and it only came to 25.25 for next weeks shop :j However, it means I can't claim my 10 quid voucher cos you have to spend 35 quid or more. However, I haven't included wine - I had more or less come to the conclusion we were going to have to give up on wine to get our…

Arrgh, I've wrecked a t-shirt!
My bf got grease (from cooking oil) on his work uniform. It's a navy polo shirt thing. It didn't wash off the first time I washed it, so I put a little bit of shampoo on the grease marks and rubbed it in before washing it in the machine again. It came out with big white marks where the shampoo had been. I washed it again,…

Cheap, really easy sauces and custard too
To stop you buying packets! These are really good for people who don't like making a roux or usually end up with lumpy sauces. I posted this on the Kenwood Chef thread but any type of blender / liquidiser will do so thought I'd post it seperately: White Sauce 1 oz butter 1 oz flour 1/2 pint milk Place all ingredients in…

wormery
not sure if this is the right place for this... I have inherited a "original wormery" - looks like a grey rectangular bin with a tap at the bottom - and would like to get it set up as part of my home compost making... I'd prefer not to spend £40 on a "worm rescue kit" (as a) I don't have £40 and b) seems a lot of money to…
