My daughter has a 100% wool rug in her room and last night she found the front end of a mouse on it, our cat must have killed it on there as there is a lot of spilt blood on it, how on earth can I clean it?

YUK!!!!! *toe curling dead mice on carpet* :lipsrseal
Dab it well with cold water and then with a cold diluted solution of mild laundry soap. Rinse well by blotting with yet more cold water.
Good luck in teaching your cat to leave his gifts somewhere other than the wool rug~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

 Could be why she has a need to hunt her own meat. Perhaps offering her the contents of the pouch and abstaining on the digestives might help?
