DVLA vs Car Vertical
Little advice please. I'm looking at a used car and when putting the number plate into DVLA to check it's history its different to Car Vertical (and other similar sites) results. The DVLA matches the dealers details and DVLA seems like the most trusted source. But why the discrepancy? Thank you!

Renewing Insurance
Insurance expires in precisely 4 weeks time. I have not had a renewal quote from my current provider Admiral, yet. However on price comparison sites I have had some very good quotes compared to last years. If I wait a week or so, will these prices go up/down much at all ? I do not want to rush into anything, but also do…

Tusker - Mileage claims
Hello, wondered if anyone could help me please. I’m looking to get a Tusker car through my employers salary sacrifice scheme. I do roughly 200 miles a month and at the moment, using my own car, claim 45p a mile. However if I get a Tusker car and use this for business miles, I will pay tax and NI on the difference between…

Bought a used approved car and found numerous issues after purchase.
Hi all, Went to view a used approved car on good Friday. Picked up a couple of imperfections that the dealership agreed to rectify. Collected car yesterday and drove home all happy. Once at home my lad who is quite tall noticed a couple of marks on the roof and pointed them out to me. Clearly I'd missed them on first…

Car engine ruined
My car was showing a warning light for the oil. I took it to my local garage and they said it was nothing to worry about, these faults can show and disabled it. The following week my car broke down so I had it towed to them by the AA. The garage has now told me that there was no oil in the engine and running it like this…

Autotrader- is it me?
When I bought my electrocar in September, I was able to go to Autotrader and select what I was looking for, price, year etc. and I got a load of results, which I could then sort by distance from my house (or price etc.) Now I can't do the sort! Also the adverts used to have more information than a small picture of the car…

My phone fell from its cradle onto the ....…

Car lease return
Hi, we returned a Mazda CX3 yesterday and was shocked to find we might be charged over £450. Bit of background, the 3 year lease started August 2021, think we put down around £3k initially and have paid £218 per month without missing a beat. We extended the lease from August 2024 until yesterday without any extra £s (other…

Manchester Bus Gate PCN - Appeal?
Received a PCN 'Alleged bus lane contravention' being in a bus lane. The image provided as evidence from Manchester City Council shows my car on a road with no floor markings or any sign of a bus lane. I went online to ask for evidence of the alleged contravention and linked to their own website that says what shows a bus…

Temporary insurance - Year vs 28 days
Planning on insuring our old car after getting it back after it needed fixed. We bought a replacement so transferred my existing policy to the new car. Il likely use it for a week and try selling it. I priced temporary coverage for a month which was £250. Pricing a full year policy worked out £450. T&C's stated a £10…

Honda discrimination.
Honda discrimination. So if I order a new HR-V I get a good choice of colours but if I order one on Motability I can only get black, grey or white! On Motability we pay a lot, £2449 or more in advance and over £4000 a year for 3 years before handing the car back. Surely we should be treated better?

EV - battery health
Looking on Auto trader, a few dealers would include battery health in their ads. Is this something that can be gotten from the cars settings or do you require manufacturer computers to glean this? Looking at a 72 plate car and it has 95% health. Should we need to worry about the life of a car's battery nowadays? Would a…

Tips on buying a second hand car
Hi. Apologies in advance for the basic nature of this enquiry but it's 16 years since I bought a car (and I could afford a new one back then!) so I have zero experience of buying second hand. I have attempted to search the forum but the threads I've found are almost as old as my car! I'm 60 years old and looking to buy a…

Car Leasing and PCP I am leasing but son is main driver away from home
Hello, just checking a few things here please. Hopefully the bullet points make things easier to read 1. We would like to help fund a car lease or PCP for our 23 year old son who lives away from home. We do not want to look at second hand cars. 2. It would be in my name but son would pay half the monthly fee to me. Looking…

Volvo V70 2009 knocking noise
I am.viewing a 2009 2.0D Volvo V70 tomorrow. The seller has told me it makes a knocking noise from the front when going over potholes and needs new bushes. LV Britannia Rescue Auto Renewal
This evening was shocked to discover that when trying to buy breakdown cover LV's Britannia Rescue will not allow you to pay monthly by direct debit payment unless the customer signs up for auto renewal. Is this right and proper or another sneaky way insurers are trying to trick the consumer?
