Autoglass ruined my car

Please can anyone advise...
My back windscreen had to be replaced in july 2025. My insurance use autoglass however i began to notice a weird smell then mould appeared in my boot. I phoned autoglass and they wanted me to take it miles away to their warranty place so i agreed then had to cancel. 3 days later the weather was awful here and the car was absolutely saturated on the offside, the boot, roof line, seats, carpet etc. I phoned autoglass who after some back and forth eventually agreed to send someone out on the monday. The guy couldnt believe the state of the car and repaired the damaged caused by the previous technician which turns out he somehow left a 1.5" gap along the seal. Autoglass have hired me a car and asked me to get quotes to have mine valeted. The car is still soaking wet and stinks and local valeters have said its a massive job to fix it and they cant even gaurantee the mould etc wouldnt return. Autoglass have authorised a valeter to do the work at a cost of £1500 rather than replace the interior which they said would be an option. Now im thinking should i refuse the valet as its not gauranteed to be 100% and have to go through this again. Im at my wits end and just want my car how it was. Its an audi a3 and still on finance. Autoglass have refuneded the 200 excess and have admitted liability. I dont know what to do now

Well obviously you want your car repaired. I think I'd give Autoglas the option of arranging the £1500 valet on the express understanding that if it doesn't work they will need to go to the additional expense of having the interior components replaced.

Make sure you get everything in writing, keep copies and all evidence in case it ends up in the courts & photographs might be a good idea.

The interior doesn’t need replacing but it needs to be stripped and dried out properly as would happen in the case of a leak in any car. If there are modules which have become submerged thats when things are more complicated which is why it needs a tech rather than just a valeter.

I would certainly let them try to fix the issue.  It may not need to be stripped out entirely - they should have an ozone machine to kill the mould spores, and it can be dried it with commercial grade dehumidifers.  I would do that, and as others have said, get a gurantee in writing that if the smells aren't gone then they need to persevere until the car is back to the condition in which is was before the glass was replaced.
