BMW EGR Urgent Recall
Hi I have had a letter from BMW stating I need to return my car for the EGR to be replaced as there is a risk that it may catch fire. So I have booked in with the local dealer for as soon as they can do it, which is the 22nd Jan 2025! so how urgent is the actual risk? This morning on the way to work the car just lost power…

MG Non Existant Customer Service
Hoping someone can help me here with this. I don’t know if this is a genuine one off, or there are hordes of enraged MG owners who will never buy one of their cars again. I bought a MG HS PHEV in 2022. Dealership in Warrington. Car had quite a few quirks. Reported them at 1st service. Nothing was followed up on them, and…

Returning a lease car that has a fault
I am returning my lease car early as I am purchasing a new one. Only question is, the rear windscreen wiper motor doesn't work and the dealer has confirmed this as a warranty repair. I have been waiting 2/3 months for the part. Will the lease company still take it back? I think that it is an unreasonable time to wait for a…

Returning old driving licence
Hi there. Hubby has just had his new driving licence through, as his old one was about to expire. I know you have to cut the old one up and return it to the DVLA. My question is, should I send it special delivery or anything, or just pop it in the post? TIA.

Finding list price of vehicle
Hello all, would anyone know where to find the original list price of a vehicle, ideally via the VIN or reg plate? Honest John etc shows my car under the 40k limit, but the logbook says it attracts the additional tax and therefore must have been over 40k when purchased. Any help appreciated. Thanks

Car Issues can I return the car and get my money back
Hiya, I got a car at the beginning of October, company recommended by my sister. I paid in 2 instalments, after the first payment, they said I could have the car to drive around and pay the second payment when I got paid next, which I did. I wasn’t expecting anything amazing but wanted something that would last about 12…

Charged more than advertised price for car
Hi all, We purchased a 10 year old Audi A1 from a local dealership last year. The price shown in large numbers in the windscreen & also on the photo advert attached to the car was £7,999. However when we agreed to purchase it we were charged £8,999 - they said the advert was wrong. Is this ok or can we challenge it as we…

Whats the best course for C1 7.5 tonne entitlement on my license?
Hi. I could make use of the category C1 entitlement to drive vehicles rated to 7.5 tonne but a lot of the courses i see advertised online seem to be a bit of a rip off. Extra charges for the medical test, a bit more to organise the theory test.... i know these places are in business to make a profit, but being as ive done…

Flat tyre - No spare
This is the first time I've had a flat in a car that has no spare by design. Fortunately not too far from home and the get-you-home fluid managed to keep some pressure in until I got home. Contacted a mobile tyre fitter and they came out. They couldn't get an identical tyre so fitted a "budget" one. Still cost me £180 for…

Car Park bump. What to do?
While my car was parked at the local shopping centre another
driver, in the process of parking in the adjacent space, hit the front of my stationary
vehicle. He said very little but provided his address and insurance details. My
bumper and wing are scratch but slightly more concerning is the ‘crease’ the
impact caused to…

Car dealer never received finance from the lender
Hi, My sister recently bought a car from a large nationwide dealership. She signed the finance agreement, which was approved through consents (open banking) got the car delivered locally, paid her agreed deposit by card and drove away. Obviously she completed the V5 and received a new one too. Now, here's where it gets…

Golf - gear selector lever replacement?
I own a 2020 Golf eTS and there's been a light coming up on the dashboard recently. The mechanic says it's a gear selector lever issue and the unit needs replacing. In fairness this is in London but they are saying the unit is £335 and labour is £420. Does this sound right? It's a new car (second hand but only one previous…

Car insurance - told repaired but discovered it's a Cat B after a check
Hi all, I'm writing for a friend who is just going through it all at the moment, so said I would ask for some advice here. Keeping it brief as I can, She was driving on the motorway and was rear ended by a young driver on their phone. Her car (Peugeot 208 -2016) was later repaired under the young drivers insurance and all…

Garage Work Not Up To Standard
I have been trying to get an oil leak fixed on my car. The issue was with a corroded Oil Sump and leaking crankshaft seal. The garage replaced the sump and seal. With the car I have they had to remove the front exhaust to gain acess to the sump. As the exhaust was corroded this was also replaced. This work cost me a fair…

Engine Oil Light Again!
Hi, I'm just looking for a quick bit of advice from someone that knows about cars, before paying for a mechanic's opinion. It's our first car, so we certainly aren't experts in car maintenance. We have a 2017 Kia Sportage with a petrol engine. It's got around 65,000 miles on the clock. The car runs smoothly and it passed…

Car Insurance Scam
Advice welcome please. In August 2021 I received an email from my insurers, Aviva, that limited details of a collison had been reported to them by another party, purporting that I had reveresed into a stationary vehicle the month before. I advised that this incident never took place. Last year, I checked my claim history…

Selling a scruffy looking 2010 Honda Jazz
My daughter has decided to sell her scruffy 2010 Honda Jazz. The tax and MOT run out at the end of January, more importantly her £850 insurance runs out on 5th Jan 2025 so she wants it gone by then. It needs some work done on the paintwork, a whole front wing needs repainted, it is silver in colour, and it has a few dents…
