Scrap a car

my father in law has a old citroen car. Parker’s say it’s worth a couple of hundred pounds. Is currently SORN and he has given up driving. It would cost about £100 to get it insured, mot and tax. So we are looking at scraping it. Does anyone have any recommendations of who to go to. I see there are national companies that buy scrap cars but I am not sure if any are better or worse. Many thanks.

Why not put it on EBay? Be very clear about all faults, set of good photos, if it’s a non-runner say will need trailering away, set the price at 99p to start. Someone will pay to take it off your hands2

A car with 1 years MOT is worth more than £100, worth more than £500 I would guess. So if it only needs minimal work I would do it.1

I took my last one to a scrap metal place I've used before, got £150.
Call a few scrappies and see what price they pay for collecting it.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0 -
try and see what Trent's will offer for it. they will come and collect if you agree to sell as scrap to them

With the price of used cars at the moment it would be well worth paying £100 to get it MOT'd, in fact on a money saving site you'd be mad to sell it for scrap if it can get an MOT for under £100.
The prices for any used car with 12 months MOT are likely to be well over the scrap cost plus £100 but really depends what you mean by old Citroen. Although if you think it's only £100 to MOT then there can't be much wrong with it so it would be criminal to scrap a decent car.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
