Autoaid Breakdown - RENEWAL RIP OFF WARNING!
My Autoaid breakdown policy auto-renewed today at £75.00 and I've just seen on MSE they are offering the identical policy for £57.28...what the heck is going on here??!
I've had the policy for several years following MSE recommendations, but now it looks like they are intent on ripping us off on renewals. I'm so angry about this.
MSE team and Martin Lewis, you need to be aware of this unethical practice, It's not in the spirit of MSE, Perhaps you should stop recommending them or warn members not to auto renew.

Not auto renewing is on pretty much every page of the main mse site.Statement of Affairs (SOA) link: https://www.lemonfool.co.uk/financecalculators/soa.phpFor free, non-judgemental debt advice, try: Stepchange or National Debtline. Beware fee charging companies with similar names.1

It's not ripping you off. Your first year is discounted to draw you in. It's not advisable to auto renew anything.1

This is pretty standard over a whole host of things. The alternative (if auto renewal has to be about the same price as year 1) is that the year one fees/costs rise...
Just don't auto renew0 -
I've phoned them up to query the inflated renewal price and they won't reduce it, even though I have been a loyal customer for over 10 years.
Furthermore, they have said they will charge me a £15.00 'admin fee' if I want to cancel the policy. Can they lawfully do this if it only renewed yesterday when I am supposed to have a 14 day cooling off period?
I am so upset about this, I am being completely ripped off.0 -
What we do in this situation is take the first year in the name of Mr..... then don't renew. Then take the second year in the name of Mrs..... and don't renew alternating continually etc. We do this with anything that offers a first year discount, provided it works for us.1

Why is it unethical practice that you renewed, but MSE has a offer at a cheaper price? it's the norm these days.
Look at the T/C on the MSE offered price.
All your issues are covered.

My Autoaid renewal went up by 10%; I declined and took out an alternative via Topcashback.1

I am disgusted by the way Autoaid has treated me, both by raising the renewal price for no reason, then renewing it by stealth without my knowledge or consent and then also dismissive way they treated me when I telephoned to negotiate with them.
So many companies these days just seem to be out to rip us of at every opportunity and they are becoming increasingly dishonest or unethical in how they go about doing it just to maximise their profilts and while doing this their customer service standards are non existent.
I am sick to death of being treated like s**t buy these huge companies. They are all at it, it's becoming like a battle every time I try to renew anything, they just don't care.
What a sorry state the UK corporate business world has become, it never ever used to be this bad, I am so angry and upset at how I've been treated.0 -
