isa fixed rate and tax free allowance
hi due to get a small tax free lump sum from early pension. Will use part of it to pay off some stuff but should have 10k to invest. Can I put it into an isa account or because I got a tax free allowance on the lump sum does this affect it? Would I be best to put it into a fixed rate saving account for one year and then…

ISA cashback offers
From what I can see there is no thread dedicated to these (please correct me if I am wrong). It would be extremely beneficial to the community if we had one, especially where there are "flaws" in the term and conditions that would allow us multiple ISA transfers and promotions each tax year. It is my first year as a UK…

Crystal ball - Should i fix or leave in Easy Access?
Crystal ball time. I think given inflation has dropped rates may go down. ISA peak rates are already down and the easy access options i can see has dropped. There arent many high easy access accounts allowing transfers in, therefore i'm just wondering if its easier to stick with my current ISA - Shawbrook and suck up the…

Does paying monthly, into a previous year’s ISA, count as this year’s allowance
I have £20K & was going to invest in a new ISA this year (2024/25). I opened up a previous ISA a few years ago, into which I still pay £200 a month. Can I still keep paying £200 into that older ISA each month or does that count as being over my £20K yearly limit? i.e. am I only allowed to pay £17,600 into a new ISA &…

Help to Buy ISA
I'm looking to buy a property (for less than £250k) for the first time and have a Help to Buy ISA. I can afford the full purchase price without a mortgage, but have been told that I need to take out a mortgage to be able to claim the 25% bonus on the ISA. Is this right? I can't find any reference to this on the Gov.uk…

Cash ISA savings from yearly income
If I contribute some of my income to a cash ISA will this be deducted before my tax is calculated? I wanted to understand if doing this to take my net income below personal allowance threshold means I would then not pay income tax. Thanks

Is this a correct definition for VUSA vs VUAG?
I have some VUSA shares with IWEB and I notice that the dividends get paid and then IWEB purchase some more shares but I have some stocks where dividends aren't paid but I do see their value increasing e.g. VVLSRU. I found out that there is an accumulating version of VUSA which is VUAG and wondered if by purchasing this…

Do withholding taxes apply to ETF's such as VUSA?
I've had some shares previously in an american company and became aware of a 15% withholding tax. Now I have some VUSA etf shares inside an ISA, does the 15% withholding tax still get deducted before dividends are paid? and does that change if it's inside an ISA or outside in a general account? Thanks

Plum ISA at 5.17%
The best ISA on the MME website page at the moment is Plum at 5.17%. However I'm wondering if this is really a good idea - looking into the description on the web site, the actual ongoing rate you get paid is 4.29%. Then there is a bonus of 0.88% that you get paid after one year. However, it says that the interest rates…

Plum...Is it just me ?
Eventually got round to setting up a cash ISA as I realised I was going to end up paying a fair bit of tax on one of my savings accounts which was bringing in over £100 a month in interest. Plum seemed the obvious choice but I just can't believe what a guddle it turned out to be. You have to link a current account etc…

Combining ISAs
Hi all, I'm after a little advice. I've currently got a few fixed term ISAs that are due to mature over the next 18 months and I'd like to combine them into one to make management easier. Am I correct in thinking that the way to do this is to sign up for an easy access ISA for this year's allocation then as and when they…

Newcastle Single Access ISA - 5%
Is it any good ? Wife fancies opening an account. I notice that the application form doesn't allow one to both transfer in and add new money......it's one or the other, can't tick both boxes. Seems rather strange. I guess they are only structured to do one thing at a time !
