New bathroom pipes groaning
Hi all Just had a new bathroom installed by a local plumber and it's come to (almost) completion. I've paid up most of the money, but I've held on to some as the pipes are groaning every time the shower is turned on. Understandably they're not keen to investigate this, although have offered to iron out the snags. I've been…

Looking for advice re:party wall issues
Hello all. My neighbours asked if their shed could join mine, as our shed goes right up to the boundary I said yes but I said they needed to make sure they had the right regs. They were adamant that they didn’t need planning permission for it. But then the whole house started stinking of curry and they've turned it into a…

Supplier vs DNO for Maisonette
I received "one of those" phonecalls from my daughter the other day. She said that she was getting strange electric shocks whilst in the shower. I said that this sounded like a grounding issue and suggested (erroneously as it turns out) that this was a plumbing issue associated with the boiler as the problem appeared to be…

Ground Level next to Garage - Foundation Frost Protection?
At the boundary between my house and my neighbour, our old neighbour dug away some of the ground and put slabs and artificial grass down to store his wheelie bins. We later found out it was actually our ground he was using and had dug away. My concern is that the ground that has been dug away will expose my garage wall…

Stone effect SPC click flooring.
Anyone seen a reasonably convincing and attractive stone/limestone SPC click flooring tile? I don't want proper tiles as I suspect the suspended timber floor is too springy, with the risk of cracks. Also trying to keep it thinnish - ideally no more than 8mm - so as to avoids steps. I've seen a few that are ok, but they…

Object in home
I used to live in a 2 up 2 down in a large city in Southern England and there was a weird object/device - in the hallway that I still have no idea what it was.......It was set in to the wall - directly beneath the meters - but was not connected to either meter. It looked like a box (12 inches by 8 inches) with a brass…
