Best way to get rid of old furniture?

Hi, I have a 2 seater sofa and an armchair, both recliners that are too beat up for charity.
What’s the best way to get rid of them?
DFS recommended clearabee but they’re very expensive and my council take a long time and their site isn’t working on the moment.
Does anyone know a company they can recommend please?

You may find a local waste company that will take them (Local FaceBook groups are good for this). But make sure they are a proper registered waste disposal company. & not one that will simply fly tip them.

Look for furniture recycling in your area. In our town there is an organisation which takes old furniture and refurbishes it for people on low income. If the furniture is too bad for them, your local council will generally remove it for a small charge.0

If you drive, it's fairly simple to disassemble stuff to the point it'll fit in a car - especially if it's being thrown out and you don't have to worry about being destructive! There'll be bolts to undo, if you flip over the sofa there'll be fabric on the bottom that you can unzip/cut to get a look at how it's put together.

Does your council have a Bulky Uplift service, councils have been improving these services as they help to cut back on anti social flytipping.
Our council service is easy to access and arrange, all you need to ensure that the items are on the pavement from the morning of your landfill bin uplift on the agreed date.2 -

Or possibly a bit cheaper, most councils offer a bulky uplift service for a small fee.

This seems to be due to a new Govt directive about waste streams containing POPs

Our LA has recently specifically banned the disposal of upholstery cushions etc at most ( but not all ) of its recycling centreHow interesting - ours has a specific skip for upholstery and cushions. Mind you, I have to say ours is pretty good - they've got separate skips for just about everything you could think of.Actually, perhaps it's the fact that upholstery has its own dedicated skip that means they can accept it - presumably they can then deal with it separately from the other waste ?
