Most efficient boiler settings
I have a Worcester Greenstar 30Si boiler circa 2008 that has recently had most of its innards replaced on my BG homecare contract due to a crack in the heat exchanger. I’m assuming it’s running more efficiently as a result anyway, but I heard the guy in charge of Octopus Energy on the radio the other day saying that people…

Can Aluminium Pans be as good as steel ones on an induction hob.
We're getting an induction hob installed shortly and need to buy new pans suitable for it. I always supposed the pans had to be iron or steel, but I find there are many aluminum pans that claim to be induction-compatible. Can some aluminium pans be as satisfactory as steel/iron ones?

Replacing ceramic coals on living flame gas fire
The original 'coals' on my fire were 2 rows of 5 and a back row of 4 as per manual. Bits have been breaking off for a few years now so I thought I'd replace them but the model is obsolete. I bought some generic ones at 45mm square but they seemed too big and so I replaced them with 35mm but they're too small. I can't find…

Replacing/updating a fuse box
My house has a very old fuse box, it's the original item so likely dates back to late 70's/early 80's. I am concerned it's both unsafe and not compliant with current safety regs such as safety cut-off. It's literally a flimsy white plastic cover helped on with a screw and a couple of rectangular fuse holders inside. Any…
