Hoover Tumble Dryer HLEV10DG-80

Bought this dryer to replace my previous Hoover dryer. However, it won’t dry bedding, just rolls it into a ball. I’ve tried Laundry Balls, detangling gadget, shaking out sheets and duvet during the cycle (numerous times) and nothing works so complained to Hoover. Basically they are saying tough. They’ve changed all their dryers to ‘single action’ and they no longer have a reverse action. Apparently this makes them cheaper to run. I pointed out that they are not fit for purpose as what is the point of a tumble dryer that doesn’t dry bedding effectively? They say it is not a fault as they are designed that way. Is this really acceptable?

I have had the same problem. I bought the same machine from AO for £310 I bought it to replace a 20 year old hotpoint dryer that half of its heater had dies meaning it took twice as long to dry.
I phoned Hoover because of the balling and they said you have to open it and take out the items periodically and untangle them. (Hoover have no record of this call) They also advised that i bought Laundry balls which i did but it made no difference at all. I would also add that this advise is contradictory to that manual. It says that you should not interupt the cycle as the last 10 minutes it runs a cool down process to protect the heater. Every vented dryer i've ever had says this.
Well 'seeing how it goes' took me beyond the 30 days. So after much going backwards and forwards between Hoover and AO, they said we have now got to deadlock where we can't agree. At this point, they suggested i make use of RetailADR for independant arbitration. Its completely free and they would abide by their decision.
At this point i'm thinking just explain that i bought a LARGE 10kg drum tumble dryer and it can't dry large things, i tried all of their suggestions etc..Nope RetailADR found in their favour. And their response kept hinting that this is how a court would view this, blaming lack of evidence. i did suggest they check AO's own product reviews (something i should've done)
RetailADR is free to me, well someone must support them right? My complaint was clear as day - a child could understand it. So i researched "How is RetailADR funded" google replied "RetailADR is funded by the marked it serves! So do AO pay a subscription? IDK
Fluffy, "They’ve changed all their dryers to ‘single action’ and they no longer have a reverse action. Apparently this makes them cheaper to run" I find that highly unlikely, a solid ball takes hours to dry,
More likely is "They’ve changed all their dryers to ‘single action’ and they no longer have a reverse action. Apparently this makes them cheaper to produce needing less components.
Anyway, i went to one of the second hand shops and bought a machine to keep us going. It was an hotpoint TVFS 83 with an 8kg drum. It cost £60 and is night and day better than this junk. If someone has one they want to straight swap with the Hoover i'll gladly do it. Its in perfect working order and not faulty because Hoover and AO said so.0 -
Bought a Hoover tumble dryer a couple of years ago. Same issue - no reverse so anything large fomed a ball and didn't dry. Endless back and forth with Hoover and supplier ending in an acceptable (> 50%) refund and their removing it. Lesson learned and Miele purchased.

You're lucky, they offered me a goodwill gesture of £30 about 10% but for some reason i couldn't use it on the small freezer i bought. This after the price of the drier dropped from £310 to nearly £240nofoollikeold said:Bought a Hoover tumble dryer a couple of years ago.
