Worrying about Hospital Referral over eye condition / diagnosis
I finally plucked up the courage to book myself in to see the Opticians last week, before doing all of this though I notified my GP explaining I was having problems with my vision, tingling crawling sensations allover the body and stomach problems (gas and water constantly churning in the stomach) When I complained about…

Do I need reading glasses as well as normal glasses?
Hi, I went for my 2 yearly checkup last month. I'm early 40's with longsightedness (+2.5 each eye) and the optician said I needed to get another pair of glasses just for reading with an increase of +0.5 on each. Does anyone know if this is normal as I've never had separate glasses before. I appreciated that my eyesight…

Eczema: To moisten, or not?
I developed eczema a few years ago on my shoulder blade, which recently has come back with a vengeance. I have an emollient cream that I put on several times a day. Should I lightly dampen the area first before I put the cream on? Or am I making it worse by doing so? Any advice greatly appreciated, thank you.

NHS negligence complaint
Hi there, please could anyone advise me. I am in the process of complaining about the negligence my Mother had to go through before she passed away in 2018. Her GP failed to do an urgent home visit to assess her in order to complete a ‘Do not attempt resuscitation’ order, despite my pleas to him, and instead came out to…

Almost 50, fat and depressed!
Apologies in advance for the misery, self-pity and mixed up waffling. I know there are people who have things a lot worse than me, but, well menopause and depression don't work logically like that!I'm on the verge of 50 and (fingers crossed, Covid dependant) will be able to take a long planned holiday in September to…

Hand Sanitiser Offers/Deals
I thought it might be worth starting a thread to collate any offers and deals for hand sanitiser here. We're in an era where we all have to get used to washing our hands and for those amongst us with responsibilities for others we also need to provide a safe working/living environment for all. Let's face it, having a…

Cheapest contact lens solution
As someone who has been wearing soft contacts lenses daily for decades, I'm always keen to keep the cost of my lenses and solution down. Contact lens solution is the worst, the price variations are extreme for what is essential the same product. Here is the result of my research looking at "all in one" soft lens solution…

Glycolic Pads
Has anyone used them? Are they any good? And brands you would recommend? What exactly do they do? They seem to be the rage these days. The prices vary a lot though, some are a few quid (Aldi) and some are over the ten pound mark (Boots and Nip and Fab).

Reasonably priced yet reliable online place to replace a glasses lens

Spider bite - poss false widow
Has anyone been bit by one of these? I was bit earlier today and it looked similar but can't be certain. I have been to the walk in centre and just have to keep an eye on it and take a strong dose of antihistamine 4 times a day. I just can't believe how painful it is and just wanting some reassurance that it'll get better…

dental dam?
Been waiting ages (courtesy of Lockdown) to get to my dentist for a couple of fillings. Was in there all mentally geared-up to have them and they started trying to put a blue plastic sheet into my mouth. I had already said it takes me a lot of doing to cope with anything in my mouth and then that happened. I instantly…

I appreciate I'm probably one of hundreds complaining about the above at the moment, but here goes... My dentist operates a Denplan scheme. Within the last 2…

John Freida Frizz Ease Serum: cheaper or homemade equivalent, or one that uses less plastic?
Thanks to my Irish genes, I have thick, wavy hair. Some might say luscious. My wife loves it (something to grab hold of) but it's a nightmare to manage because it gets so frizzy in humid air. For years I have used John Freida branded Frizz Ease extra strength serum. When we lived in the UK is was easy to get on 3-for-2…
