Dental Implants - Costs

I am looking at getting dental implants, I live in Scotland and the prices are prohibitive, my dentist has referred me to Edinburgh Dental Specialists and I could be looking at £14,000 for 4 x implants and 2 x bridges. I have found a place in Milton Keynes which offers similar prices to travelling abroad - DaVinci Dental Care. The cost there would be more like £6500 for the same work. Seems like a no brainer but of course my dentist here is not encouraging that option. Anyone got any opinions on the best course of action?

Your dentist will be referring you to a named dentist that he knows, has seen his work before, and knows its a good practice which works in a fair & responsible way. It will also be reasonably local, so should any issues crop up either during the treatment, or at any point it the years afterwards - a return visit to get things looked at should be a straightforward thing to arrange.
Your dentist will have no knowledge of the bargain basement place in Milton Keynes. It will obviously be working under UK regulation & protocols, so that is good - but even in the UK practices do go bust, and there are some places that change the staff & dentists more frequently that the Newspapers in the waiting room (Ahhhh - the days when we could have newspapers in the waiting room!! Even the days when we could have people in the waiting room!!)
So - you may be fine going to this place, but it would be a long way to drive back to if anything unforeseen happened either during or after treatment.
You pays yer money, you takes yer choice. If you've not had either place look at you yet though, I wouldn't be presuming such a wide discrepancy in costs until both have actually examined you and you have the proper treatment plan in front of you.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

Don’t even think about going abroad for implants. They’re not low maintenance! I’ve had my All on 4 bridge for about 5 years and can’t count the number of times I’ve had to go back. Lots of minor things like the filling falling out of a screw hole, also cleaning every few months. I’ve also had two teeth break and the repairs weren’t satisfactory so on several occasions they broke again. Maybe I’ve just been unlucky but if I’d got them abroad I don’t know what I would have done. My dentist has been really good, usually seeing me the same day and not charging anything, but despite that he’s about 40 miles from me and that’s pretty inconvenient. Abroad would be impossible.

Here's another Edinburgh site for comparison.

I'm having three implants plus bone grafts on both sites but no bridges, costs are no-where near yours. I got a long consultation with the dental surgeon beforehand and then received a complete treatment plan for each stage of the process.
