Frequency of active electricity tariff changing?
My friend tells me that he knows someone who [actively] changes his tariff on a daily basis, possibly more frequently, in order to get the best rates for import and export of electricity. Can this be correct? I did not know that this was even possible. edited to add [actively]

Tumble dryer - efficiency label
So I've got an A+++-10% tumble dryer. Ie: a regular one would use 195 kWh (Based on 118 cycles) but this uses 10% less First of all, the newer labels are based on x kWh per 100 cycles which is much easier to deal with, compared to having to look at the product sheet, and working out your own usage that way Secondly, I've…

V2H and V2G
Inspired by a post from ASavvyBuyer listing a V2H charger (link below) on the domestic battery thread I thought it might be useful to have a separate thread for V2H as this technology now looks as though it is taking off. https://wallbox.com/en_uk/quasar-dc-charger I have expanded the scope of the thread to discuss V2G as…

V2H?
I've just had a massive quote for unexpected repairs to my car that are needed get it through its MOT, so I may be getting an EV sooner than I had anticipated. If I buy a Nissan Leaf and the right sort of charger, does that guarantee I can then use V2H? I really like the idea of using the car battery to power my home,…

Consider avoiding this firm
I should like to leave a review for Effective Home. We checked them on Trusted trader and they seemed okay. But we didn't read all the bad reviews. Before you choose Effective Home, read the one-star reviews. They took our money last summer, did one day's work, at the same time causing hundreds of pounds of damages, then…

Advice Needed Chasing Fraudulent ‘Teak Plantation’ Companies
My father invested £82,025 in three teak plantations and one bamboo plantation in Costa Rica between 2012 and 2014. This is on top of about £2million that he has lost due to investing in other ‘cold callers’ who, as far as we can gather, are also fraudulent organisations but getting ANY form of help from Police, FCA,…

PV Production Curve
This may or may not be of interest! Each year I'm fascinated how the PV production curve develops through the year and of course especially at this time of year when we see it improve quite dramatically. For this graph I took maximum productions levels for each date since my install (Nov 2015) i.e. I'm trying to ascertain…

Number of solar panels to aim for with this roof setup?
Hi All, Been following the various solar posts on here for a while and looking more closely into taking the plunge on an install. Have a got a few quotes in and they seem to follow a 10 panel + battery standard (this is before any site visits so understand it would be quite general), but before refining it a bit more I…

Low cost solar diverter.
If you are in the market for one of these take a look at this. Although I already have a myEnergi Eddi I was curious so ordered one of these off Aliexpress to try. They are sold under different names on eBay with the typical stupid profit driven mark up but as you are unlikely to get any support from the eBay sellers I…

RICS - Open cell spray foam
So I've seen this https://www.mortgagestrategy.co.uk/news/rics-launches-guidance-on-the-use-of-spray-foam/ And I guess that's their "latest advice" What do people here think of that? I take it as there's still no definitive answer from mortgage vendors as an industry They've mentioned what Nationwide say but there's no…

Bottle and can return scheme
There is to be a plastic bottle and aluminium can return scheme in England, I understand it will commence in 2024 The scheme does not include glass, but there will be a requirement for councils to do curbside collections. How many don't recycle glass now? There has been news stories about the problems of the Scottish…

Adding panels to a house which already has an older FiT array.
I'm wondering whether I lose my FiT payments if I install another solar array with seperate inverter & meter on my property? I know I can't add onto that meter but assume I can have another meter and export through my current energy provider (shell) and not my FiT service provider?

Heat pump hot water cylinder + boiler
I've currently just got a combi boiler I was wondering if say I put a heat pump hot water cylinder in there, would that work? E.ON Next - request for solar meter reading not received for March
I usually receive the request for a reading on the 1st of the month (so 1st March, 1st June, 1st September and 1st December). I have not yet received the request for 1st March 2023. Has anyone received their usual request from E.ON already? I'm not overly concerned given this is the lowest yielding quarter by far but I…
