Just need reassurance really
Hi everyone, nervous newbie here. I was googling debt advice and came across this link and thought how nice it would be to hear stories of people who are in a similar situation to me, as often my debt journey feels incredibly lonely and isolating! I’m a married mum of three and my husband and I are currently in (inward…

Credit File / Security clearance
Can any offer advice/knowledge? I have defaults that have dropped off my credit score. I’m in the process of filling out the financial section for security clearance for work. I really don’t know if I should mention these debts (as I’m still paying towards a couple but they no longer show on the credit file) or not. The…

Confusion over company debt with personal guarantee
Hi there, I'm wondering if anyone can clarify whether a debt can be owed both by a limited company and by an individual simultaneously. I ask this because I took out a loan under my limited company several years ago which had a personal guarantee. The business ran into trouble and was unable to keep up the contractual…

What happens if you just ignore your debts?
Lots of posts here from people who want to get to grips with their problem and well done to them for making a start. I'm not in debt, I'm lucky, but I do wonder what happens eventually to the people who DON'T ask for help, just keep struggling on, making minimum payments, missing payments etc,? If they have an interest…

Lendable Home Visit Letter
Hello, I have a letter for Lendable that says they will make a personal visit to my home to get back in touch with me. I had stopped paying the monthly amounts and not contacted them at all, hoping they would default first before I could tell them my situation. I'm thinking I write to them with my situation at this stage -…

HMRC letter
Hi Not sure if this is the right place to post this. I have received a letter today from HMRC for late filing penalties dating back to 2013/2015. This is the first time they have contacted me. I did run a business back then and had an accountant who dealt with all my returns. I am aware that HMRC can persue you for a long…

Help needed please 🙏
Hey all, so I’m £27000 in debt. I don’t have to explain why but I want to. Split from my ex husband of 24 years Feb 22, sold our house & actually paid off our £42000 worth of debt, I have 3 children, I work full time, I stupidly racked up more debt which I should not have done. Been lurking on here since April when I…

Feeling a bit down about it all.
So as I pay debts off I cut up the card, I have paid off two loans this month and have cut up 3 cards today. I looked at my spreadsheet and realised I STILL had 7 debts to go, one loan and 6 credit cards :( . Just feeling a bit deflated (was 30,000 now down to 16 000) .

Reduced payment plans
Hi, I’m just starting a new thread to try and understand the pros and cons of reduced payment plans. Do they just mean that you pay a reduced amount and take longer to clear your debt? So interest remains the same, the debt amount remains the same, the only thing that changes is the monthly payment and therefore the loan…

OPUS chasing statute barred dept (and leaving voicemails on communal office phone)
Hi all, I’m reaching out for some advice regarding a situation I’m facing with a debt collector (Opus). They’ve been chasing me over an old debt that they’ve already acknowledged as statute-barred, meaning legally they shouldn’t be able to pursue it. However, despite this, they’ve been leaving voicemail messages on the…

Hello you lovely people. Just wanted to say what a great help this forum has been. CCA incorrect response
Hi, I have a very old CC debt originally from MBNA and which is serviced through a debt recovery company. I have been paying this off since 2014 with a nominal monthly amount. In July 2021 I decided to send in a CCA and received what looked like a genuine, albeit very poor, copy of the original signed agreement. As the…
