Fraudulent JD Williams Credit Agreement

I have had a credit agreement opened in my name with a previous address. I can only assume through identity theft. Two items were supposively purchased and now I am being chased by a debt company for the cost. Although the debt company cannot even identify which item were purchased but they can tell me how much they cost.
Can anyone tell me what personal data is required to open a credit agreement and what checks are required.
It seems that the debt company chasing this account have very limited personal data about me but I was just wondering with the small amount of data they have how could a credit agreement be opened.

We're getting a lot of these over on debt-free wannabe. Maybe ask for your post to be moved.
Usually Cabot or connected company trying to pin an ancient debt about which they know little, on someone with a vague connection to the original debtor.

Apologies just worked it out.I requested all the data held on this fraudulent credit agreement which has revealed the false contact details used to open the account. Can anyone advise what would be my next steps to show that this is identity fraud, please.0

Basic steps to report identity theft:
Make a report to Action fraud, get a crime number.
Write to whoever is chasing you for this debt, inform them of the fraud, quote the crime ref number, inform them you will not be paying this due to it not being your debt etc.
If its been reported to your credit file, complain about that too.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. As my data has already been used fraudulently I am concerned with sharing my data further if I report this Action Fraud, how do I know my data is secure?0
