I messed this up straight away
anyway, I am skint and there is no way I can pay this back. The text says £4900 and as much as this is probably real, (cannot believe I am having to ask) but do I really have to pay this back after so many years? Thanks

No, tell Lowell it is statute barred, see

You don`t need respond to texts, if they can be bothered to write to you, then write back and tell them its statute barred.
The limitation act gives creditors 6 years to chase bad debts, in your case that deadline was passed over a decade ago.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Whatever happens don't admit to the debt. And if you write to them to tell them that as you have no knowledge of the debt they should not be holding any of your data and need to delete any phone number or any other way of contacting you with immediate effect.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards.
