My debt was sold to a third party company (lowell portfolio I Ltd)
Hi, I'm looking for advice I started to spend silly money with JACAMO I realised I was not going to be able to keep up with both the repayments and the interest so I did the smart thing and contact them to discuss it, I managed to get them to agree to freeze the interest and agree to a payment £20 a month. I have been…

Full and final settlement terminology - does it need amending ?
Hi folks, Been a few posts of late where long term DMP`ers, and others, have reached the stage of making settlement offers to some of there creditors. There has been some confusion about exactly whats meant by a "full and final settlement offer", and how it should be marked on your credit file. The very name itself "full…

What small DFW things will you do this week? w/c 06/02
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym. But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when…

Hello, Lowell solicitors tried to get a ccj on me over an old contract that I cancelled as most the time I didn't have service. The original default balance (that's on my credit report) is £94 but Lowell are saying the want £745. I told all of this to the courts. I received a letter from Lowell with a notice of…

Please verbally bash me to quell the urge to buy the new iphone
This isn't a joke - this is why I get into debt. I really want something and the urge takes over. I really really really really want an iPhone 7 Plus. I'm doing the thing where you justify the want just because you want it. I really need someone to "shout" at me. I don't have the cash - it would go on Very account, a…

Overdraft Trap
Hi, We're trying to pay off an overdraft, each month paying £50 in but the bank then charges £11 in bank account fees and £29 in overdraft fees so it's taking forever! Is there a way to speed this up? I've seen the virgin money 0% credit card mentioned. I suppose I was wondering if these charges are fair and normal. Thanks!

Debt collectors and data hell.
I've tried to find the answer myself via the wonder of Google but I haven't had much joy with my exact predicament, therefore I'm wondering if someone on here might know the answer. I defaulted on a credit card with Capital One two years ago around the time of becoming unwell and at a later point moved from one private…

Enforcement officers and creditors
A quick question,I have set up a pay plan with an enforcement agency concerning a debt. My question is the creditor rung me yesterday asking me if I wanted to pay him direct(which would be much better for us as there would be no interest) I find it strange though that he's offering this now and even stranger that he didn't…

Commercial Lease debt?
Hello everyone. New to the forum and not technically in debt yet, but due to my circumstances I may soon have someone chasing after me. I opened up a shop last summer and although things started strongly, it's bombed big-time (apart from Christmas time which was great) and week to week I barely have enough to live on. I am…

The Light is Here
About 10 years ago I started a DMP which was meant to last 88 years. I am now proud to say that I have one payment left to make - unless there's some slight miscalculation somewhere. I knew this day would come but all those years ago it seemed so far away. Going on a DMP was the best thing I ever did. Kept my house, assets…

Talking to partner/spouse about debt
How do you approach the topic of debt with your partner/spouse when you are the one who looks after the money (badly in my case)? Do you go for total disclosure, regardless of consequences? Does anyone keep their debt a secret from their spouse and get away with it? My wife knows that we have a lot of debt, but she doesn't…

Capital Resolve
Hi, I have just received a letter through the post from Capital Resolve. They have stated that their client has directed them to offer me a settlement fee of £300 instead of the £400 that I supposedly owe. It says that their client is United Kash Ltd (Speedcredit). This baffles me as I have never had debt with speedcredit…
