About 10 years ago I started a DMP which was meant to last 88 years. I am now proud to say that I have one payment left to make - unless there's some slight miscalculation somewhere.
I knew this day would come but all those years ago it seemed so far away. Going on a DMP was the best thing I ever did. Kept my house, assets (nothing of real value) and sanity.
The only thing I did religiously was remember that I was in control. I paid what I could afford and no more. I had to pay less payments sometimes, overpaid others, but never missed.
I am now finally free. What a relief of burden.

It's a fantastic feeling isn't it? I'm at the same stage as you, one payment left after 6 years 8 months (originally 11 years) and over £46,000 of debt.
I can't quite believe the day has almost arrived when we will finally be debt-free;)
Enjoy your new found freedom:j

congratulations! I remember getting df as being quite an anticlimax! We had spent a year so focused on clearing the debt, and lived for the moment that is was cleared (we cleared £16k in 10 months) but when the day came it was a surprise, I'd called my loan to find out what was left on it and it was a lot less than I was expecting, maybe around £40 so I paid it then and there. Dunno what I had been expecting but it was just like "oh that's over now"!
However not being in debt for all these years has been priceless. Everything we have wanted or needed we have paid for it, we now have savings, I was out of work for over a year and we've been able to take it in our stride. EnjoyDF as at 30/12/16
