Its not owed in one lump sum though is it.
Its £5 here, £7 there, i admire the blokes tenacity, but the last debts were from 2010, so every debt virtually, would be statute barred by now anyway.

He is using the age old trick of hoping the British public are unaware of the Limitations act, and just pay up.

Not a very astute business man to leave debts dormant for seven (and more) years.
In answer to the OP's question - if it were me, then no I wouldn't pay.
Just as aside -I am amazed his shop stayed open for so long. I thought the days of renting videos/DVDs from shops like this disappeared quite a few years ago with the advent of on demand services from the likes of Virgin Media and Sky etc.DFW Nerd No. 1484 LBM 07/01/15 Debt was £95k :eek: Now debt free and happy :j0 -
