Enforcement officers and creditors

Options
A quick question,I have set up a pay plan with an enforcement agency concerning a debt.
My question is the creditor rung me yesterday asking me if I wanted to pay him direct(which would be much better for us as there would be no interest) I find it strange though that he's offering this now and even stranger that he didn't know we had paid the agency which was the 1st if the Month.
I may be wrong but in my head I had imagined that the agency were the creditors monkey so to speak.
I will also say I have a solicitor involved as the charges that were added were no way near what should have been charged .
