Hi all, apologies is this isn't in the correct forum, please feel free to move it My partner and I will be looking to apply for a mortgage in roughly 6 months time (first time buyers with good joint income and likely 10-15% deposit) In summer 2021 I paid off a fairly large balance on a number of credit cards, all of which…

Transunion shows a CCJ granted 5 days ago
Hi, I've just looked at my Transunion credit report, and found that a CCJ shows from the 10th February from Link Financial. I've had no paperwork about it, at all. It's a disputed credit card, for just over £1,500. It was sold from a sub-prime lender to Link while I was disputing it with the card company, and Link never…

Credit file / debt management plan question
Hi, I owe money to various lenders in forms of loans and credit cards. When Covid happened, I've been made redundant and I went into a debt management plan as the monthly interest total was way too much and I couldn't afford to pay it. I used StepChange to set up a debt management plan and I assume all lenders have been…

Bank account from 1983
I opened my main current account in 1983 and it does not appear on my credit reports from Experian, Equifax or Transunion. I am aware that this is because the account pre-dates the date when opening a bank account also gave authority for them to report it to the CRAs. What I would like to know is if I apply for credit and…

Old payday loan debt - should I pay it all off?
Hi all, I got in to some trouble around 2017 with payday loans, usual story... I managed to get most of them written off and even got my interest back. One that slipped through the net, which was totally my fault was a loan with Lending Stream (debt being recovered by ACI) - I missed the chance to take them to the…

Should I pay off my debt or fight it?
To make this post short and sweet, I am going to bullet-point the events: * September 2014: I got a contract with Vodafone for an Apple iPhone 6S. * December 2014: The phone stopped working, and I sent the phone back to Vodafone for a replacement. * February/March 2015: After many phone calls with Vodafone and not…

Using Klarna to build up credit history?
My credit history is generally good but I need to have some more recent entries in my file. I find the idea of using my existing credit card for everyday purchases and paying it back quite fiddly and annoying. A home appliance has recently stopped working, so I'm considering buying a new one (approx. £300) using Klarna 3…

Does taking out a credit card really increase your credit score?
I have read both that it does and doesn't. I'm unsure what to believe. I took one out (my first) in mid 2021 but haven't used it at all. Will this affect my credit score at all? I'm not versed in credit cards and was apprehensive about taking one out (due to horror stories I've heard over the years).
