Sky hard credit search - without permission

I was looking on the sky website thinking about purchasing a tablet from them, I took to check out to see how much the final cost would be. It prompted me to sign for a credit agreement and permission to perform a hard credit search - thinking about this I declined it.
However a hard credit search has now appeared on my credit file from Sky.
Who should I contact about having this removed?

You would ask Sky, but it's unlikely too be worth the bother.2

A similar thing happened to me in December 2020, but it was in connection with a credit card application. Nothing went through but the hard search appeared on my credit files. I wrote to the CC company to ask for the hard search to be removed. They refused - but the Financial Ombudsman made them.
It was well worth the bother for me and it's the principle of the thing.

You're not going to get anywhere with this. You entered you details and then clicked "Continue" along with clicking the checkbox stating "
- I am happy for Sky to use my contact details above and my address to update me about offers, products and services. You can change your preferences at any time online or by speaking to us. Please also read Sky's Privacy & Cookies Notice.
And their privacy policy allows them to share data with third parties e.g. CRA's.
Stop signing up for things and assuming you can back out, I mean the next step is labelled "Affordability " for Christ's sake.

As for signing for things and assuming I can back out, yes of course you can the options are there not to proceed and back out, so not entirely sure where you are going with that particular comment?0 -
Not sure on the ins and outs of Sky in this case.
However, if I was asked if it was ok to be hard searched, my reply was "no thanks" and they continued, I would be rather annoyed.Life isn't about the number of breaths we take, but the moments that take our breath away. Like choking....0 -
If this has happened as you have said then they shouldn't have done but, in all honesty, one hard search will have zero impact upon you.
Whether as a matter of principle you want to spend time and effort trying to correct something that will make no difference either way, that's your call.1 -

I'm not going to waste my time signing up for a dummy account to satisfy your needs so if you really think they didn't warn you or said it was a soft search, report them to whoever you think will listen (spoiler alert: it won't be anyone.)
I don't understand why you'd create a thread on here when you've already decided what happened and won't listen to anyone who argues against you?1 -

It's possible OP didn't see something expressly stating a check was being made, but its also possible its not that clear, as some financial sites aren't. Nothing wrong with OP lodging a complaint and seeing what happens if thats what they experienced0
