Laptop Dead After Plugging In With Broken & Exposed Cable
As the title says... I plugged in my laptop to charge as the battery was running low, and it just turned off and wouldn't turn on again. I checked the cable (socket to power pack) and it has a break in it with the copper exposed and possibly slightly split. I switched the cable with a different one, and the power pack…

How can I tell if my Windows7 is a Vista upgrade or a fresh Windows7 installation?
I can’t remember whether my Windows7 laptop was upgraded from Vista or was a fresh install. I did it 30 months ago and I can’t remember what I did. Is there any way I can tell? You probably don’t need to read on but how I have got here is a longish story: I bought an Acer 8935g laptop that had been built before Windows7…

Does a Nexus 7 work as a phone (if you get the one with SIM compatibility)? Or does it only offer mobile data option? (Thinking about maybe getting one for the missus - she has a milestone birthday approaching early next year). :)

Nexus 7 cover/case
Any recommendations for a good, slim, smart case? Have seen them advertised as sleep/standby case (with magnets?), how does that work? Don't want anything industrial it is for my daughter. She saw a silicone skin, in purple, but it didn't look as though it would protect the screen, or much else.

Could someone please suggest some software (preferably free) for playing DVDs on a Windows 7 computer. On my old machines I used Cyberlink Power DVD, but that was on a disk that…
