Emails disappearing from Windows Live Mail

Have just got a new computer and have Windows live mail for my emails.. I am finding that I am losing my emails after a few days. I normally delete read ones that I dont want from my inbox after reading and leave current ones that I am still using in the inbox. but have found that when I click on these older ones ( just clicked one 10days old) it says' message cannot be found'. Where are they going, If I havnt moved them ?

I used XP & Outlook Express on my old PC and thought Live Mail would work similarly. The odd thing is, its not all old emails going just some.0
