Clickable links in a pdf - possible?

I am designing an invitation to go out by email on which I want a clickable link for payment. Is this possible when I convert the document to a pdf or do I need to save the document as a different format?
Help gratefully accepted :)

Links will show up in PDF's, however some readers disable them for safety. I use foxit, and that does. I do not know if you need to set them as a link upon creation, or just have the address in there. (like mse does with just pasted links, changes them into a hyperlink auto)

so thanks guys. My next question is this:
How do I insert the pdf in the body of an email text rather than as an attachment?
I want it to be there when the email is opened without the need to open an attachment. AT the moment I do this using a jpeg format but dont think links are clickable in jpegs either.
    Thanks in advance :)

that isn't possible, as a pdf needs to be opened by a specific piece of software - you could either have a text email and put links directly into that or make the jpeg link to a page, seems like a total faff!! I would just be tempted to keep it as simple as possible
