AVG problems

I've been running AVG 11 free version quite happily for a while but suddenly I've received warnings and on checking shows VDB has failed for Anti Virus has Anti Spyware and Resident Sheild not active. when I try to 'Fix all' there is a general error in the updates. Need help with garmin 1310 Sat Nav please.
