Advice Required - sub £200 camcorder for indoor use?

Hi, I need a small portable camcorder that is suitable for indoor recording. It will be mostly used to film our 10 month old baby although many reviews of low end camcorders say they aren't great for indoor recordings (where light is sometimes poor). Some models i have looked at already include the Sanyo CS1, Toshiba Camileo and Sony Bloggie. Any advice is most welcome! Thanks in advance!

  • I recently bought a Creative Vado HD camcorder and it has good low light quality. The 4GB version is about £105.

I recommend you search youtube for various camcorders and see for yourself the picture quality.

I've found this link which shows the Vado in low light conditions.

The Kodak zi8 £75 +sd card is worth thinking about - I have zx1 and mino and they suffer in poor light but are great in good light. The zi8 can take reasonable stills as well -doesn't sound much I know but you will end up using it. Try and get 5600k daylight bulbs -what photographers use!
  • Thanks spakker. A camera that takes stills is a bonus and might save me having to carry a camera as well. thanks for the advice. Similar Electron's suggestion, this model is not something i had been looking at previously. Great options at a great price point.

Hi , my zx1 is 3mp but I still use the photo option. Zi8 is 5mp - the thing is that these are so easy and convenient to use that you will end up using them a lot !! Getting out and using a full-on camcorder does sound like a pain in comparison to using one of these. Check out reviews with google before buying and look for special offers eg on hukd , I got mine for £40 each !
