AVG problems

Hi.

I've been running AVG 11 free version quite happily for a while but suddenly I've received warnings and on checking shows VDB has failed for Anti Virus has Anti Spyware and Resident Sheild not active. when I try to 'Fix all' there is a general error in the updates.

Any advice would be welcomed thanks.

Honestly I'd uninstall AVG using the Removal Tool afterwards to make sure its gone and then install Avast which is better.

Thanks I will if I can't sort this easily. It's been fine until now but I can't seem to fix it easily.

The only thing I can think of is that it was mid update. Was this the case? If so it will work correctly once all the update has finished and downloaded.
  • Download and install malwarebytes: Download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.50 - FileHippo.com Go to UPDATE tab, CHECK FOR UPDATES. Then run a FULL SCAN. Remove everything it finds and post a log here.

Download and install hijackthis: Download HijackThis 2.0.4 - FileHippo.com Hit the top button in the program which produces a log - please copy this hear.

After all this is done (and please do so in the order stated), we shall remove AVG from the control panel and run: http://www.avg.com/download-tools. Then install a better antivirus: Avira AntiVir Personal - FREE Antivirus

Thanks - this seems to be the case. I've never had that problem before but maybe it was the time of day. Hopefully, all is well now.

If it's not give Microsoft Security Essentials a try, I used AVG for a while but never again since I've used this.
