Cooking a whole chicken.. best way?
I normally cook chickens in my electric oven, but it always seems wasteful to heat the massive oven space for just that one item as i don't tend to roast potatos/veg in the oven anymore as i've switched to the air fryer. I've got a little chicken that defrosted over night and i'm wondering if there is another better way to…

Weekly Flylady Thread 28th February 2022
Welcome to the weekly Flylady Thread. What is FLYLADY? Well, it's our version of the US flylady idea - but we work on the principle that housework is not fun, it's boring, can be time-consuming, is often thankless but, unfortunately, necessary. It's here on Old Style to provide the support we all need and to make the whole…

What shape handle would you go for on pans/pots?
We're looking for some new pans and have short listed two that are very similar other than the shape of the handle. Both receive very positive online reviews other than the handles which both attract praise and criticisms. First is a hollow round handle which the nay sayers say is too round and can result in the pan…

How do I remove shower screen marks from frosted glass?
Wonder if any of you fantastic people could give me any tips here. My wife has sprayed the shower panel with glass cleaner (not sure which one) and went to wipe it, but the glass is just stained with the spray mark where it is frosted! (The non frosted glass is not affected). She hasn't touched them since! Has anyone got…

Statutory rights to Amazon "no returns on this item"
I bought what I thought was 28 packs of dog food and received 7..A very misleading description caused this. I have not opened any of the packs and tried to return them but Amazon say these are non returnable. They are not in the "personal use etc" category -what are my rights under the distance selling rules?

Virgin Media downsizing
I have a large package with Virgin Media and now we are retired and bills going up it was time to downsize. OOPs No cannot downsize online BUT can upsize. After numerous times trying to get through to Virgin eventually after a long wait I got through. Admittedly they did reduce my existing package from £89 to £70 all good…

Draught excluder suggestions.
Gitdog has been playing with my front door cushion draught excluder and it’s a bit torn. I was wanting to change it anyway but am thinking of just recovering it with better material to save faffing around with fillings etc. It’s not particularly heavy though (most shop bought ones aren’t) so I’m looking for suggestions to…

What kind of glue to fix my egg coddlers?
Not sure this is the right place but I thought it would go along with the 'make do and mend' thing? Basically I have a couple of porcelain egg coddles (a bit like this one: https://images.app.goo.gl/PrcBkGoom5F5ZjSc9 ) which I use most days for breakfast. Unfortunately due to their age and ongoing use, the glue which holds…

Weekly Flylady Thread 21st February 2022
Welcome to the weekly Flylady Thread. We often see new flyers (gents
welcome!) around this time of year so please don't worry if you feel you cannot
keep up. Similarly if your house has been neglected it won't be turned
around in a day - but if you stay you will get into some good habits which do
help! Happy flying. What…

Old Style Daily Sunday 20 February 2022
Morning all. Yesterday was so bright and beautiful, today is grim. The blustery winds and driving rain started in the wee small hours and is still going strong. My anticipated day of idleness didn't happen, it became more like an afternoon of less busy. I changed the bedding first thing, that's getting more difficult than…
