Statutory rights to Amazon "no returns on this item"

I bought what I thought was 28 packs of dog food and received 7..A very misleading description caused this. I have not opened any of the packs and tried to return them but Amazon say these are non returnable.

They are not in the "personal use etc" category -what are my rights under the distance selling rules?

On the face of it you should be entitled to a refund although you may need to pay for the return.
What reason has Amazon given for them being non returnable?
Did you buy from amazon or a third party seller?

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

They may be classed as a perishable product, which will mean there is not an automatic right to a refund.

As food, this is likely how they're classified.

    And the reason given?
Do you need to request the refund from the seller rather than from Amazon? Where is the seller based?

  • Get onto amazon chat and make a big fuss about how you've paid over the odds,  you expected this and got that, you're on a limited income, etc. Really lay it on thick. I've had success doing that in the past, sometimes they've given me my money back to just get me off the chat.
  • Seller based in Antrim, N. Ireland.
Sell by date is July 2023 so not perishable.

So what reason did they give you for not being able to return them for a refund. Have you contacted the seller directly?
