Alexa and Shopping Lists
I was beginning to put together a major shopping list using an Amazon Alexa list when I began to wonder if the large supermarkets: Asda, Tesco etc had an Alexa Skill which would let you add items to their lists e.g Alexa add coffee to Asda. At the moment all I have is a list called shopping and that’s more of an…

Extreme MSE
My DM is decluttering (with some healthy encouragement) one of her cupboards which is stuffed with paperwork - all neatly saved in named box files. I want to share two receipts. This one is from 1959 and the chair with stool is still in use in DM's home. This one is from 1968 and, again, is still in daily use in DM's…

Weekly Flylady Thread 27th January 2020
Welcome to the weekly Flylady Thread. What is FLYLADY? Well, it's our version of the US flylady idea - but we work on the principle that housework is not fun, it's boring, can be time-consuming, is often thankless but, unfortunately, necessary. It's here on Old Style to provide the support we all need and to make the whole…

Tainted Tupperware - Can I Save it?
Have some old Tupperware from the 80s but have noticed it seems to be tainted with a savoury food smell. It's been through the dishwasher at least 4 times, the last time was straight after each other. Still smelly when it dries. Can I save it? I prefer the older Tupperware tubs. Thanks!

OS with young kids - tips & advice
Hello! I was just wondering if others on here were trying to be as OS as possible with very young children, and thought we could share tips and ideas. (And any ladies who’ve “been there done that” too!) I love most things OS and thrifty but since having my youngest a lot has slipped away and I’ve been in “survival mode”.…

Need help with food budget
Hello, I am just signing up to a DMP and cutting back where I can, but one think I am struggling with is the food / household / cat budget. I have £200 per month to cover these. I have 2 children ages 9 and 11 who spend every other week with me (shared care arrangement). So that budget needs to pay for: 9 year old - 2 week…

Cleaning after hoarding - advice on ethical disposal of items
Hi - thanks in advance for reading I've struggled my whole life with some kind of hoarding disorder. It's not emotional attachment to junk like a lot of people on the tv but, for some reason, I really struggle to keep a clean home and always have. My default would be to eg. drop rubbish on the floor from where I'm sitting…
