O/S Daily Monday 27 January 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person.
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Dark start and air feels cooler.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge. DS2 settled and happy.
Lunch yesterday was roast beef, roasties, mash, cauli/broc cheese, swede, carrots, sprouting brocoli, peas, yorkshires and gravy. There is some LO's which will become dinner either tonight or tomorrow night.
Yesterday was a chilled day, DH and DS1 defrosted the outside freezer and we had a sort through what was in there, some items did get thrown away but not too much and we have a chocolate gateau in the fridge that we're eating for desserts at the moment. Not sure what we'll be having for dinner tonight.
Back to work today, we'll see whether we have technology or not when we arrive!
Keep safe and well x

Good morning, and thanks for starting NMLC. Hope you have a good day at work.
It's frosty here. can't remember today's forecast though.
We had all the family for lunch yesterday, so it was a busy day, nice though.
I'm visiting a friend this morning, hope to get a few jobs done, then will be picking Dgd up from school for her usual Monday visit. How the weeks do slip away!
I'll put some washing in, but I'll just hang it on the airer on the landing, it's not worth putting it out even if the sun shines there's no heat in it.
Last night I started a card for Dd's partner, so I'll need to get that done today as well, it's his birthday tomorrow. I shold have done it earlier.
That's my day, unless something out of the ordinary happens.
Hope everyone has a good Monday
Take care folks.0 -
Morning All
Cold this morning, there's a stiff breeze and sleet showers forecast, just hope we have heating in work, quite often it's off on a Monday morning.
Visited friends yesterday afternoon, they live on a farm at the top of the Loch and have sheep on the hill. We went for a walk up the hill - cold, muddy and then it snowed! My legs were aching, I was huffing and puffing like a steam train but I did quite enjoy it.
Work will be busy today, it was all building up on Friday when I left. Hope to visit Sophie on the way home, will take her for a walk if the weather is ok.
Still January (must be the 95th by now) but payday tomorrow!
Stay safe, take care. XX0 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC.
It's the funeral today of DS's tragic ex partner.. Her first husband and sons moved area a couple of years ago so we have a bit of a drive. DS picking me up quite early. Neither he nor I are relishing the thought but it will be much much worse for her sons. I think they will now be about 15 and 17.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need. GERS I hope your walk helped clear your mind a bit. Hope today is better. ((HUGS)) for all others in need, people, babies and animals. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -

Pouring with rain here and set in for the day I think, bacl to work for me today and a manic monday ahead !!
The roast been was very tasty yesterday I cooked t quite rare which is how we like it, we have the same tonight too so a nice easy meal, I also found some nice hot horseradish in the supermarket it actually has quite a lot of heat to it !!
Last Monday when I went into work the place was flooded due to a burst pipe my friend and I spent the first hour mopping so I hope there is nothing like that today.
Gers sorry to hear you had such a rubbish day, hope things get better for you xx
TA hope today goes as well as it can xx
Camelot the pups get on ok ish, Evie is tolerating her atm but does have to tell the pup off every now and then when she gets too much, they will get there eventually !!
Right better get on have good days all xx0 -
Hello again
Well, we jinxed the sunny weather yesterday. I pegged out washing and DH felt well enough to do some gardening. And so it rained!!
Back to yoga today. Feeling very stiff, esp shoulders, so am looking forward to that. Then we are collecting DGchildren from school and out for tea somewhere. Looking forward to that too as it seems ages since we saw them, tho it's probably only two weeks.
I hope things have calmed down a little, Gers. It's not been a good start to your year.
Hope your day isn't too arduous, TA. On the plus side, it will be nice to spend a day with DS I'm sure, despite the circumstances, and he will be glad to have your support.
Happy as possible Monday, everyone0 -
Good morning and happy Monday to you all,
I was back up in Glasgow this weekend to see my step-bro and his daughter now that they've returned to the UK for good. It's been a year since I seen them last so it was amazing to see them and to get play with my niece. Where do they get the energy from!
I returned back home last night, although my journey took me over 5 hours as there were 2 separate crashes on the motorway, one of which, I read this morning, killed a police officer. I've never been one to get frustrated or angry at traffic like that, so I switch the engine off and chill out a bit.
Realised I forgot some bits from my shopping list yesterday, so I need to visit a SM again today, which will scupper my NSD. No yoga tonight given my ankle, which is getting better. The bruising and swelling is much better.
TA - Hope today goes as well as it can.
camelot - That sounds very idyllic0 -

Just a quick one from me because we are off to Laura's this morning and she wants me to pick up some things before we go.
It was another quiet day yesterday, we watched the football and Steve started painting our bedroom. Finished off the beef brisket I cooked the other day apart from the soup I made from it which still has quite a few portions left.0 -

Morning all, it's a bit brighter here.
Dad was happy all day yesterday and went home with his goody bag. Another roast dinner, 2 brand new T. shirts (which were too tight across the chest for Mr Fix It) and a couple of portions of bread and butter pudding ( which was deemed a hit with all of us ).
Today we are staring the kitchen / diner preps and I hope to start the painting on Thursday. I don't relish doing any of it, but I will be happy when it's all done and it's been on my " to do " list forever it seems !So that's my week sorted, barring emergencies, fire or flood :rotfl:. First stop is to take the microwave down and I' ll give it a good scrub while I'm at it. I'm on bucket, sugar soap and elbow grease and Mr Fix It is on the steamer gadget. Wish us luck we're going in !!
I hope everyone has a good Monday, especially those who are working.
Gers hope today is heavenly for you. :A
Take care and hugs to all.
