O/S Daily Wednesday 29 January 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Dark and chilly start to the day.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and ok.
Dinner last night was pork loins braised in gravy and onions with LO mash, cauli/broc cheese, peas, yorkshires and roast pots - enjoyed by us all. Tonight will be either a pasta or rice dish with some sort of meat/chicken .
Yesterday work wasn't too bad and I spent over an hour in a meeting - so back to my normal office today - last day of my working week except it's my Saturday to work.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Yesterdays snow didn't last long thank goodness, got to work and there wasn't anything at all, felt a bit of a wally dressed in my big coat and snow boots! It's just wet this morning but really quite cold.
Haircut after work, I can see again. I should have gone shopping after but really couldn't be bothered, I'll go after work today.
Have a happy Wednesday, take care. XX0 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. No snow today thank goodness. I turn into a dithering old woman when there is snow on my sloping front steps.
Golden Girls bus trip day today, incorporating browsing and lunch, so another no cooking day. Sachet of leek and potato soup defrosting to have later with a sandwich when I start to feel peckish.
Vet pleased with Sparkle's chin but the problem may return. He assumes it's some sort of allergy. She's now on Evening Primrose oil! Put some on her food this morning but she was not impressed - she walked off and left it!
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all the poorly people, babies and animals who need one. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -

Off to work today and we shall do some healthy alternative cakes ready for healthy eating week next week. And maybe a couple of healthy eating meals, not that mine are unhealthy !! these will be more diet meals !
Dinner tonight will be the filled pasta with some salad and garlic bread so a nice quick meal, I must get the pork fillet out for tomorrow night.

Morning folks.
Chilly here too although no ice or snow. Bad weather is forecast to come in this afternoon so I'll do everything early on.
First thing is a physio appointment, probably my last one. Then I've got to pick up a new laptop for DM as her old one is past salvation. The engineers are loading up the operating system etc.
Finally I have to get to DM's building society withdraw some money. There has been dry rot found in her flat which has spread from the one next door. Remedial work will start in mid February so payment has to be made. There will be major upheaval in that room, something I really dread.
Right, must awa- happy Wednesday to everyone.0 -
Hi everyone,
We're back from a couple of days of baby worshipping and I have withdrawal symptoms already. I know a lot of people prefer children when they grow up a little but I have always adored babies and never minded being woken by them and all the associated chores of looking after them.
I've been awake since five but I might go back to bed for another hour now, there's not a lot on the agenda this morning but I got a phone call yesterday offering me a physio appointment this afternoon so I need to go to the next town for that. I'm impressed I didn't expect to get to see anyone this quickly, it's only a couple of weeks since I asked for a referral.0 -
Good morning, I'm really cold but the heating has just come on. Had a rubbish night again, will probably sleep better tonight.
I got a decent amount of work done yesterday and I'll be doing a SKYPE interview later, I've only ever used it once and that was years ago so will get OH to have a little practice run with me first.
I have reached the point where I am just clinging on in the hope of spring. I inspect the bulbs every day and there are just a few in bud now.
TA one of my dogs was allergic to something and she had evening primrose oil in her food and it did make a difference. She was a greedy dog though, there was very little that she refused to eat. Hope you find some treat food that Sparkle likes and will tolerate the oil in that.
Wishing everyone a good dayI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Good morning, cold dry and windy here.
I had a busy day yesterday, but it went over ok. We managed to get out for a walk with Dgs, we were all well wrapped up against the bitter wind.
We went down to the park and fed the many swans, ducks, and gulls which are always there (the river runs through the park) then back up to our main street for Dgs to observe the buses coming and going - he likes buses, and building site vehicles with flashing lights.
Then up to our local station, to see the trains, he likes those as well. It's only a little unmanned station, but there are stopping trains in the morning and early evening, so he was delighted to see a couple.
By then it was nearly 5 o' clock and getting dark, so we went home to be in time for his Mum coming.
,
Out for the quiz last night as usual and were home by about 10.45.
TA, it's a pity your lunch place is closing - sadly all too common now. Our High street has a lot of empty shops. Glad the funeral went ok.
Gers I had to smile at your Mum waking you to tell you the router was flashing!
Speky, hope you are resting your ankle.
Nothing much planned for today, but a bit of tidying will be done, and some ironing I hope.
I also want to look on internet for some card making dies, I received a die cutter for Christmas, and I have a few dies but would like more.
That's it, I'll stop waffling - hope everyone has a good day.
Take care folks0 -
Hello
Another day dawns bright and sunny. Nothing exciting today. Just a mooch around the outlet stores, maybe see if Marks has anything in my size, then coffee and a shared cake.
Yesterday spent an age on a helpline to Amazon for them to come to the conclusion my new Kindle was faulty. I'd told them that at the beginning! A new one is on its way. Don't want to complain tho cos I wouldn't want the helpline girl to be in trouble. She was trying to be helpful and was determined to sort it out!
Oh Gers! Now dry rot on top of everything else! Your patience is certainly being put to the test!
Speky, I hope you've stopped still long enough to give that ankle a chance to heal.
Happy Wednesday, all0 -
I also adore babies thats why I had four and was a midwife - there is still a baby shaped hole in my heart as I was medically retired. It was such a privilege to be the first person who touched them in their whole lives xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Good morning everyone,
I ended up staying a little later in work than expected last night, which meant I didn't go back to the gym again. Not the end of the world. Spent the evening doing some cooking and then managed to catch up with my mates for an hour on the xbox before bed.
Gym again this morning. No plans this evening, so I'll aim for a productive one, whatever that may include. I do have some things on my to do list.
Thank you to those who've asked about my ankle. I've been very careful with it and the most exercise it has is slow hobbling. I'm making sure not to do too much.
camelot - better safe than sorry
TA - Good news the diagnosis wasn't anything too sinister
RR - I'd be interested to hear what healthy cakes you end up baking, if you'd be kind enough to share once you've decided? I always struggle to find the balance between healthy and tasting good!
Snoozer - assuming the physio is through the NHS, I'd grab it with both hands as in my experience, their availability can be limited0
