Leaving cream out of the fridge
Sorry if this is a slightly idiotic question but how long is it safe to leave cream which has been whipped and put into a Victoria Sponge cake out of the fridge? I'm really not keen on cake which has been in the fridge, even when it's been allowed to come back to room temperature I find the texture a big claggy, but also…

Cleaning black stains of of PVC windows
I live in a shared uni house and over christmas we didn't clean our bathroom very well so when we came to do a deep clean after we all returned in january we moved our toothbrush holder and a facemask pot and uncovered two large black circle marks (presumably some sort of condensation mark as the bathroom was very damp…

My cleaner told me today and I have just done it and it works! My Henry hoover filter was pretty minging and she told me to put in WM on 30 degree wash( taking out the inner metal ring) It is super clean without any effort. So pleased!: T

Cleaning Tile Grout
So we are having a bath tub replaced and there is nothing wrong with the tiles - its just the grout has turned dark and mouldy and I would rather try cleaning it then remove all the tiles and retile the whole area. Can anyone recommend me a tile grout cleaner that does not ruin the grout or tiles?

cheap pans for induction hob
I brought a single plate induction hob from a charity shop just to use for camping. As first I was pleased with my bargain :money:but then realised I don't own any pans that will work with it! Any suggestions where to get cheap suitable pans from? I don't want to spend much as they will only be used a couple of times a…

Freezing baby puree
Hi all, This is my first post so be gentle!! I've recently started weening my baby and although I'm making a lot of it myself, I've decided to buy pouches of puree which contain fruit / food I wouldn't usually buy (like Guava for example) so he's still experiencing those flavours. I've noticed that the Ella's Kitchen ones…

Weekly Flylady Thread 12th August 2019
What is FLYLADY? Well, it's our version of the US flylady idea - but we work on the principle that housework is not fun, it's boring, can be time-consuming, is often thankless but, unfortunately, necessary. It's here on Old Style to provide the support we all need and to make the whole task easier and quicker. We also…

How do you rotate your clothes to make them last?
This issue has been touched upon in another thread, but I felt it was worthy of a stand alone discussion. When it comes to wardrobe "staples", like socks, underwear, jeans, T shirts and jogging bottoms, how do you rotate their use to make things last? My classic behaviour is to reach for one of the above from a "not put…

I Need To Clear My Flat Out
Hi all, I posted before on a similar vain and find myself needing help again! I managed to clear out in total about 30 bags of "stuff" from my flat. Lots of which were clothes and stuff to go to charity shops and a few bags of rubbish. This year has been an odd one and I've noticed the amount of stuff in the house becoming…
