O/S Daily Saturday 10 August 2019

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Very blustery here but dry underfoot.

DH and myself up enjoying first cuppas of the day, I'm showered and dressed, he's watching catchup tv. I'll be heading into town shortly to visit the building society,

Dinner last night was steak, cheeseburgers (menfolk), chips, peas, onion rings, I had fish and side salad. Tonight we're having chinese that we're taking to mum and dad's.

Keep safe and well x

  • Morning folks and thanks NMLC. It's fine now after o/n rain and the blustery winds are yet to arrive here, but they are forecast!

Undecided what to do today. The cleaning got done yesterday in fits and starts but the windows are STILL waiting to be cleaned after a week of promises!! I might get the bus to Ilkley for one or two bits from M & S. Their salad stuff is far superior to Aldi's and as I have some Sparks offers, including a free cucumber, it's worth the trip. No doubt it will also involve a detour into Laura A for a bit more bargain spotting for my present stash if their sale is still on!

Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need/want of them. Thinking especially of TAFF and her dad. A wave to absent friends. Take care all xx

    Morning All

The sun is shining for now but we have more rain forecast. Yesterday saw torrential rain with thunder and lightning for a while.

DS1 and the DGC left yesterday morning so I had a good clean and tidy downstairs, upstairs still to do but the bedding is in the WM - need to do it slowly as it has to dry inside, not sure I can trust it to be outside today.

I met up with friends for lunch yesterday which was lovely, we had some refreshments so I had to have a lie down when I came home!

My healthy eating starts today, it'll be easier now all the visitors have gone.

Hope you have a good weekend. Take care. XX

    Mornings everyone.

What a dreadful night here, storm was raging all night. It's clear just now though the forecast is dreadful. Seems to have been particularly bad in some areas with the bad power cuts.

Yesterday DM took it into her head to 'do things'. After the start to decluttering she pottered off down to the kitchen where she washed the lunch dishes :j:j and rearranged some things too. She's even agreed that the now empty shoe boxes can go out too. A bit of a transformation- hope it continues!

Off shopping this morning, then organising the things for crossword friend and then I'll go out to take all the haberdashery to anirher friend.

I hope that everyone is safe and warm during these difficult times.

    Happy Saturday.

Morning all, bright and sunny here although very breezy,it did rain in the night but not a great deal ,enough to water the garden though. Only one more week until my holidays ,so starting to sort out the things I will be taking ,so this morning getting clothes sorted out and essential items .
No shopping to do at all now until after my holiday so menus this week will be based on whats in the cupboard and fridge/freezer. Only four evening dinners to make this week as I am out on Sunday,Tuesday and Friday. I shall have a rummage in the freezer for tonight's dinner shortly

Hope everyone is safe and dry and fingers crossed the storm doesn't do too much damage

Have a great weekend chums and stay safe

    Good morning everyone :hello:

It's a bright and blustery morning here but there is lots of rain forecast for today. It feels a lot cooler and fresher though so I am grateful for that.

I had a lovely evening last night, there was nothing worth watching on the telly so me and Steve just cwtched up on the sofa and listened to soppy love songs. It made us laugh as they reminded us of times long gone by.

Lilly went out clubbing last night in the torrential rain wearing not a lot of clothing. Hope she is alright as I didn't hear her come in but I know she is in bed as the chain was on the door this morning.

I have shopping coming this afternoon but Asda have stopped providing carrier bags so it will take a bit longer to unpack everything from the crates. I have ordered a big leg of lamb and all the makings of a roast dinner for tomorrow as I really fancy one. We have been eating salads for weeks on a Sunday but the temperature is predicted to be cooler so in my mind that means roast dinner :D.

Gers, good news about your mum. Hopefully this will continue xx

I have decided to sort out and read my cross stitch magazines this morning. I love knitting but I think I want a change for a bit. I will start by making some of the cover kits and see how I feel then.

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care and stay dry xx

Good morning everyone, cool and damp here, we had rain most of yesterday and overnight, more forecast today but the thunder and lightning did not happen, I had been looking forward to a bit of drama. Lots of leaves all over but I'll wait until we have a less windy day before I sweep them up. It looks now as though the rain is getting going again.

The birds are liking the soft ground, they are hopping around getting worms and grubs.

Husband has just returned from hunter-gathering at T*sco, I've been reading a book and about to start on the paper.

I don't have plans for today, don't much want to go out, too wet for gardening and too wet to do the downstairs windows outside, they do need a clean soon though.

Thinking if our MIA posters and of all those who are struggling.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

Moning all! Planning on doing nothing at all today, just relaxing for a change..It's amazing hw draining it is to be away from home, I'm thinking all the time of what is going to happen, what has to happen, who has to be phoned, who has to be chased up, what has to be bought/cooked, what has to be tidied/washed/put away, what has to be planned for appointments etc..There's like a little cog spinning away in my head with 'I must...I must...I must...' running on a loop.

Now the loop is running on nothing today and tomorrow it'll be I must get to the hospital on time...Pretty early too, at twenty past 11, I think, I'd better check the calendar :)
It's really windy here, it's already blown two of my pots [with very heavy earth/plants in them] off the table, so I've moved a few more in case. Have to water the greenhouse later and feed the toms, they've turned into triffids this week, I wont be using string to hold them up again, it'll be back to the twisty metal canes next year. There are about six lage cucumbers in there too to be picked so guess what we're eating tomorrow? Maybe I'll make gyros and tzatziki...

camelot, I laughed at the lying down! Gers, success!! decluttering is working!! :) dumpling, enjoy the cross stitching! You have reminded me I have a stash to sort out....Hope everyone has a good or even adequate day, wotcha missings...
