outdoor door mat

Torrential driving rain the other day and now my coir doormat is sodden, will take days to dry and I am going to replace it by something which sheds water. Any ideas? It is an open porch, normally fairly dry

I needed a doormat to go outside the kitchen door (in an attempt to catch at least some of the mud on the dog's paws before he comes romping in!) and ended up with this which has been great.

    It's a rubber one from B&M.

What about an Astroturf mat? There are good and bad points though. It's a synthetic material so doesn't get soggy, and dries quickly if it gets wet. However, whilst it's excellent for wiping dirt off shoes it isn't fully absorbent so you would probably need a thin absorbent mat inside the door just to dry off the bottoms of shoes.

I have ordered a rubber mat with lots of holes in it, I will put my coir mat on top for a trial, maybe the water will drip through if we get torential rain again and maybe it will dry. If that does not work then I will get rid of the coir and just keep the rubber one.
