O/S Daily Thursday 27 October 2016
O/S Daily Thursday 27 October 2016 This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome,…

Sainsburys £100 gift card SCAM message
Not sure if this is in the right place but just a warning re this WhatsApp message that I received which looked like it was from someone in my contacts but the number wasn't recognised. I googled sainsburys £100 gift card as it seemed like a great deal especially at this time of year but seemed to be too good to be true…

when 'all being in this together' means something
I've only been posting and reading the OS board for a few weeks and I cannot believe how my mindset and financials have changed (for the better). When 'all being in this together' means something it is SO powerful. I just wanted to say thanks to everyone on this bit of the forum for the cheerleading and friendly words xx

Everlasting milk
Is this a record? I'm still using milk that has a best before date of 17th October. It's still passing the sniff test and isn't going lumpy in tea! Our fridge (Siemens) does seem to be particularly good at making things last, but an extra 8 days is way longer than I've ever had it last before. Our previous fridge wasn't…

Immaginative use of kitchen equipment
I laughed to myself today when a Lakeland advert hit my email IN BOX trying to persuade me to pay £139 for a soup making mixer gadget. What's wrong with an old fashioned saucepan ?? There are obviously a lot of people who are persuaded to buy such devices though. I wonder how many of them spend most of their time hidden…

Freezer Advice Please
In my freezer I have some cooked ham and cooked turkey. I would like to defrost and make into ham and turkey pies. However this will create more pies than we will eat in one sitting so my question is can I then re-freeze safely? Thank you L-L

Help! Mice! (I think)
I went away for the weekend, and returned to find that *sonething* had chewed through the plastic tops of the vegetable oils and there were bits of lid all over the cupboard floor, in the oil and had stuck all over the door. There were olive oils in there with plastic tops but they were untouched. The sugar and the rice…

Household - Routine or Winging-it?
I noticed the Fly Lady thread - but wondered if folks preferred a set routine to winging it? I really dislike doing household chores - I don't mind untidy but not dirty - so I do them. Have spent AGES finding a 'place' for various things. Half the battle is putting things back! I've decluttered as far as my comfort-level…

The MSE Food Waste Challenge Thread
Hi all, I have had an idea for a thread. It was inspired by the thread posted by the Government on this forum about combating the problem of food waste. That thread was very informative, lots of great suggestions, but I thought we could go one better. My own suggestion was to keep a food waste diary. This was based when I…

Toasters that take tall bread
Rather than revive an old thread that started in 2011, I have started a new thread. Looking for a toaster that will accept a slice of "Warburtons Toastie" bread The issue is the height of the bread not the thickness, a slice of Warburtons measures approx. 12 x 15 cm, yes I was in Tescos yesterday with a tape measure, they…
